Attaching a neck from a broken uke to a cigar box to make a cigar box uke

Hello. Please pardon if there is already a thread for this somewhere, and if so, please direct me to it.

Has anyone here done this successfully?

I have several cigar boxes lying around, and the neck from my Oscar Schmidt uke that I fell on and crushed a while back...(was not the best ukulele anyway)

I have been hankering to combine the two.

Does the cigar box need to be of any particular size in relation to the neck?

Most resources i have found dealt mainly with constructing a cigar box uke from scratch.

I love it! Just make sure to get a solid wood box and experiment. Getting there is most of the fun eh!?:cheers:

Just make sure it has the same scale length and that the top isn't too thick or it won't be very loud. You could bolt it through the side of the box with a self tapping screw.

I like the way this guy did it. Note that he replaced the original cigar box bottom with a new sheet of cedar and made that the top side of the uke.
