hope you guys all had a happy thanksgiving, i just got my first uke a few days ago, and learning the intro to sweet child of mine, never realized how clumsy my fingers were, i think its a 2 part problem i think that not only my finger to big but my uke is to small, may have to move up to a tenoro or concert? any suggestion on finger excercises to built speed?

this video is what started me on learning how to fingerpick. I am still a beginner but these vids are a start.

scales also help with learning what to do

I would say another step to take after learning the basic scales is to learn the major and minor pentatonics.
major pentatonic in C : CDEGAC
minor pentatonic in C : CEbFGBbC
the shapes are movable like "the box" video above to get different keys.

As for your instrument being too small for your hands, that is something you will have to determine. I would give your current instrument a try for a couple days and out of curiosity try comparing how your fingers feel on different sized instruments at a local guitar shop or a guitar center. I am 6'4" and play a concert FWIW.

GL and uke on
