If anyone is in the market for Martin sopranos, there appear to be some nice ones on sale at Bernunzio.com. I just grabbed a Style 1 - judging from the Kluson tuners and bar frets, it was made in '46 - '47, if the Walsh & King book is correct. It plays and sounds great...

Several years ago, I bought a '19 Style 2 from Bernunzio, and I'll probably buy from them again. The guy I bought from this time played a bunch of ukes into the phone for comparison, and checked the intonation with an electronic tuner. Very patient and helpful. I've been an Elderly customer for over 30 years, and always will be, but for buying a vintage instrument by mail, Bernunzio is my preference. I don't know enough about the Martin vintage market to judge whether their current "sale" prices are bargain basement, but they seem to be competitive.
