Everyone seems to swap out the stock Hilo strings on their new ukes, but they're really not bad. A definite step above GHS and whatever kind of cheap Chinese strings come on the $25 ukes.
Despite being some of the least expensive strings around, James Hill uses them, which I guess makes them decent strings because someone well-known uses them without a sponsorship.
Maybe they would sound better if they raised their prices.
When it comes down to it, it's all subjective to the listener on string preference.
