Violin tailpiece

To begin with, not much more than aesthetics as I like the shape. However you never know where experimentation might take you.

The tricky part of tail pieces on ukes is getting the proportions right. There's just not much room between the bridge and the tail on the usual uke shapes so the tail piece can look too fat and heavy. Maybe you could use something more like a mandolin style tail piece. No reason it wouldn't work if you can get it to fit in there and look right.

I cant remember if I already posted this, but I wanted to try an archtop style tailpiece and ended up using a potato masher from the pound shop.

Trying it for size on a uke I built originally with a fixed bridge but got the scale length wrong.

It plays pretty good and loud too even with a very shallow break on the floating bridge. I gave it to my Dad for Xmas. Anything is possible and I am sure you can make the violin tailpiece work too.

I once made and fitted a violin style tailpiece on a banjo-uke I was
making, but find the fixed bridges on wooden ukuleles to be perfect
for the job they were designed for!
