I remember reading about the original ones, but have no hands-on experience with them. How do the "new" ones differ?

Damn. I didn't want a resonator uke...I didn't want a resonator uke....but these look gorgeous. Would be even more appealing if they were true sunburst finish.

My next uke will be a resonator. Kala's models certainly are at the top of my list; a great combination of quality and price.

Hmmm. I just noticed - no tailpiece. the strings are anchored on the top. Not sure if that will allow me to substitute metal strings - which has been my goal.
Maybe a 2013 model is better for me...
