Want a chuckle? This seller is serious! They got very indignant when I asked if they didn't mean $30.

Yeah but it comes with a tuner...

My first uke! Got it from MGM for about $45. Played the decal rosette right off mine. So, I guess it's only worth $250 now.

So THAT's why it's called the Space Coast.

It's that Kala tuner - of the three I've had (all came "free" with ukes) one actually worked. The others didn't, even with new batteries. That means that if this one works it's almost worthy of the Smithsonian!

People are going crazy. I've been browsing eBay for starter ukes to use in lessons etc and noticed people have been buying second hand standard Mahalos for up to 35. You can buy them brand new for 18! I guess people don't know what they're buying or get carried away.

OMG, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I guess that's why, despite what we always tell everyone here, buying your first Kala KA-S from Amazon, as I did, may not be such a bad thing. As we now know, it could be worse.

Dude must think that Kala is a K-brand....:D

And it's not even a soprano in the picture. Looks like a tenor!

Thats pretty cheap compared to this $400 mahalo strung with $150 premium nylon strings.

I guess technically it's 'buyer beware', but it's still depressing that some people apparently have no conscience.

Yes, it certainly is!

That's as bad as getting low balled when selling. I had a Ohana I've had for a year, like new. I paid $370 for it and I'll I wanted was $250, I thouhgt that was fair for a like new Tenor solid Rosewood Cedar Topped Tenor. I got multiple offers for less than $100. Craigslist is crazy.

Greed has no end. I bet the low-ballers would try to resell at $370.

Are those frets made out of actual silver nickles?

Well, to be fair. A KA-S is selling for $69.99 on amazon currently. ;)

Never ceases to amaze me what people try to sell without doing any homework.

LOL that's exactly what I got as my first uke. A Kala KA-S from Amazon, given to me as a gift. (But it turned out fine for me; it somehow got set up properly.)

And river_driver is right, that's no soprano. It certainly has more than the "12 silver nickel frets" in the description. Looks like the KA-C to me. I wonder if the picture is even of the uke for sale.

Neck joint and rosette inlay are pretty sloppy, the nut is laughable - I don't think I've ever seen one left hanging that far over the sides of the neck and it also looks like it is very high though there isn't a good picture of the action at that end of the neck to confirm it. It also looks like the top is pretty thick though it's hard to say for sure.

All in all I'd say it strikes me as being a first attempt by a non-playing but somewhat talented amateur woodworker to cash in on the uke craze, or maybe even a cheap Asian uke with the stickers removed. It's definitely not anything I'd turn over 1900 clams for. If I could play it first and it actually had a decent voice I might give a couple of hundred for it with the idea that I could live with the poor inlay and the glue squeeze out and finish fitting the nut and, if necessary, frets, myself.

Just took another look at the other pics. Yeah - that nut isn't, um, quite finished. :)

Also check out the location of one of the tuners in the 4th pic. Oops.

I had initially discounted that as camera angle but on second look, I think you're right. Oh well, it's just that pesky G string. Once that tuner hole eventually breaks through and the tuner falls off you no longer have to worry about whether to string it low- or high-g!

But it comes with what looks like an official UkeCrazy case. That has to add at least 400 dollars.

Lots of uke classes in HI, maybe it's a "class made" model using fancy koa. Maybe an aspiring luthier made it in their garage.

Even though I have often been surprised by the evil acts people commit towards one another, to prove intent of malice from these sellers would be difficult, and I wonder if there is any possibility of just pure, raw ignorance?

Is it possible that there are ukulele players or owners that exist so far to the edge of the mainstream, or completely without any social awareness, that they have zero exposure to the value of these items in the used market?

or alternately is their practice of evil so deep and black, that just by the very nature of it being opposite to the culture here on 90% of UU conversation threads, that we can not understand it because it is so foreign?

When I have searched Craigslist once in a while and see no 'ukulele' listed at all, but then see HUNDREDS of items when searching for 'ukelele', it makes me wonder if I should put 'gee-tar' or 'guitar' or just 'stringy twang-banger' in the search box.

Pardon me while I go swallow some batteries! :)
