I saw the great idea for the shirts and I saw someone bring up the problem of looking for some stickers to put on their uke and thought of Ukulele Underground stickers or decals. I would definitely put that on a uke or on my car. How bout it? Who else would rep one?

i know for a fact, bugoy would put one on his car hahaha. im not so big on stickers anymore (back ground in street racing back when each sticker gave you an extra 5 hp). but i would definitely get some. great place to put one would be your uke case! or even the side of your amp. better yet... ON A GUITAR hahaha.

making the vinyl stickers with al the grass details would be difficult. and the thin lines on the "UNDERGROUND" would be prone to falling off. but if someone knows of a place online that can make custom bumper stickers, then the possibilities are endless.

great idea.

we're going to be making some cheap graffiti stickers soon that we'll probably just give away and throw in with orders. Bigger more fancy stickers would be coming soon after that. We got some new designs we're working on too.

That's good to know. Is it possible for people to pay for just the sticker alone and just mail it?

I don't think I'd want to stick anything to one of my ukes. Especially one of the customs that I'm currently waiting for. :) BUT, I have thought about putting stickers on my uke's case. Any tricks to get stickers to stay stuck? I have a hardshell Ko'alau case and am not confident that the stickers would lay completely flat due to the grain of the case. Any ideas?

a trick i used when using vinyl stickers stuck to my leather motorcycle jackets... stick em on. use something smooth and round like a lighter to roll over it to press it on as good as possible. then take a lighter and CAREFULLY heat the vinyl stickers. while they are still hot and soft, press them into the grains with your fingers. just press. dont rub.

the stickers are the shiny ones. reflectorized vinyl. they were glowing too much because of the flash on the camera. but you get the picture.

just be real careful that you dont end up burning the vinyl stickers. i burned a couple corners when i was putting mine on. but im also a believer in the ten foot rule. if it looks good from ten feet then its all good.

my bike is a streetfighter. so you can imaging how much mickey mouse jury rigging i did to her. but from ten feet, everything looks factory! hahaha.

Definitely could use a sticker on the Gator case. It will stop people from asking about my "violin" or making comments such as "so you play the violin". On a bad day I tell them it has been about 3 decades since I have played a violin. Long pause... It's an 'ukulele!

i think we should just make a merch thread for ideas this way we dont bog down other sections with alot of treads based on the same consept

then have an actual merch tab in the main page
but its just an idea i dont quite know if it would actually work out lol

Ohh I'd like one too! I'm actually about to go see how much it would be to make decals at this local store. I need to get other decals done for my car. xP Hopefully it's not too much. ><;;

OK, I would love a UU sticker. If this is not the thread to get one, where is it? I think it is awesome that UU would do this - it's costing somebody some bucks for postage and printing! So... if I can get one, tell me how?

Incidentally - you can see that people are hot for the stickers, so obviously they will be interested in other merchandise, which they would most certainly PAY for! I would love a t-shirt, and frankly the possibilities are endless. The site administrators almost certainly get a revenue stream going here. It might help you pay for the site, buy beer, gas to get to gigs...etc.:D

Unfortunatly I think it is to late to get a sticker. It was in adifferent thread that is now closed. You might try getting in touch with rayan though.

As for other merchandise, they have made t-shirts and are getting ready for a 2nd run. Also there are some posts about a UU ukulele and it is in the works according to a post from UU staff. Alot of people have shown interest in a hat, but it is ultimatly up to the UU staff.

What was the final word on the stickers?

There's always cafe press (http://www.cafepress.com/) as a cheap solution if you guys don't want to pay to have a bunch of stuff printed.

Has anyone on the little damp island of Britain received their sticker yet? I'm on first name terms with the postman now and he says "Nothing from Hawaii this morning but here's another bill." My, how he makes me laugh ...

Yeah I'd buy a couple.
For the car...and my case...and to put all over New Jersey!

Vinyl decals can be done in a number of ways.

Firstly literally just cad cut - they'd need application paper applied so that regular folk don't get tangled up in the thin straggly bits.

Secondly - full colour printing done on a specialised printer such as a versacamm - very useful for photographic images etc.

Thirdly - spot colour printing done on another specialised printer which uses foil rather than inks - such as a Gerber, great for single colour or spot colour logo's - can also do metallic colours and white - which obviously a standard or vinyl printer can't.

If stickers ARE done, make sure that they are able to withstand the bright sunshine of the area you live in - they will have a fast fade rate if not ( they are normally given a protective cover. )

There are two types of vinyl - sign vinyl and textile vinyl - if there is a vector file of the UU logo it would be very easy to get these done.

:)
