Happy New Year Seasonistas! I am very excited and a little nervous to be hosting my first season. As we ring in the new year, I think we should sell out.

That’s why this week’s theme is “Selling Out”.

This would include songs with product names or company names in the title or lyrics. A few examples of songs with products or company names in the title would be “My Adidas” by Run DMC, “Rum and Coca Cola” by the Andrews Sisters. A song like “Cheeseburger in Paradise” wouldn’t qualify, but if the lyrics were changed to something like “Quarter Pounder in Paradise” or “Double Whopper in Paradise”, then that would be acceptable.

I’ve included a link to a page that has some songs with products in the lyrics to help get you started.
http://www.amiright.com/real/productartist/
Here is another link, compliments of KoaDependent
http://songswithabrand.name/archive

A second category for this season is “Jingles, Commercials, etc.”. These can be existing jingles or ones you make up on your own. These should be short videos, maybe 60 seconds or shorter.

Rules:

1. Mention somewhere in the video that this is for Season 99 of the Ukulele.
2. Please submit no more than 2 videos total. They can both be in the same category or one in each. All other videos can go to the “Island of Misfit Seasonistas”.
3. Ukulele must be the main instrument.
4. Multi-tracking is fine.
5. Bonus points for product placement in the video.
6. Please do not post any videos until after midnight Sunday Hawaii time.

Prizes:
Everyone who submits a video for this season will receive a pack of Silly Supermarket Stickers and Wacky Packages Old School stickers. Just send me a PM with your name and address.
I will choose one video as the “Biggest Sellout” and come up with a special prize to send them.

Now get out there and sell, sell, sell…SELLOUT! :D

and I thought it was a great line for a song, which I just made up on the spur of the moment.
Now here is the thing I don't understand, the article on the BBC concluded with the statement.

Does the mention have to be in the context of a product ie could I do 'Old MacDonalds farm' and 'claim' it as the company name for the burger joint?

As this was the only U2 song on the list Gary linked to, I had to do it of course ;). This is Playboy Mansion of, of the Pop album. I've added some images to the video with the knowledge I gained last season. I have been playing with Jamup Pro XT (an iOS app) this past week, so my Epiphone is routed through my iPod with Jamup running, into my Mac with Garageband for the recording of Vocals and Uke. I later added the video track to that and then did some editing with iMovie.

Actually, sometimes the ads are better than the shows. I especially like the AT&T commercials with the kids sitting around the table.

I would have to say no. But, if you changed up the lyrics to something like, "Old McDonald had a store, e-i-e-i-o. And in that store he sold Big Macs, e-i-e-i-o. With a heart valve here and a heart valve there...". That would not only work, it would be totally awesome (I want my MTV reference).

How did I know you would do a U2 cover (even if it weren't in the link, I'm sure you would have found it). Great job integrating the slide show into the video! I really like the effect on the uke, as well.

Commercial Break !!
(Apologies for thread-jacking momentarily.)

So far the call for nominations to EoY Extravaganza II has met with a pretty disappointing response.

So I'm keeping open nominations for Seasons 53-58 another 3 days. You have till 6pm Wednesday GMT to put forward from seasons 53-58 nominations for awards in the video categories.

Nominations for awards from Seasons 59-64 (http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?91778-End-Of-Year-Extravaganza-II-Call-for-Nominations-for-Seasons-59-64) will end next Sunday regardless.

Nominators, thank you for your contributions; try and see if you can round up some seconders, too.

And now, back to our show!

MIKE DOUGHTY -
I am listening to this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQymW5d6JIM
as I type and I now know why I had trouble chording the song.
He is a user of alternate tuning - which I must admit I am not a fan of. I'd be happier about it if it was referenced every time it was used.
It often sounds fantastic but i reckon it really is no longer a guitar (or a uke) - it is a guitar tuned xyz. And should always be called a guitar tuned xyz IMHO.
He is another reformed character apparently who has written "The Book of Drugs".
Hates his old band.
I'm still trying to like his music which is terrific BTW (again IMHO).

The Who Sell Out was an album I didn't buy when it came out, mostly because of the daft cover.
"Oh, the Who" I thought, "what a bunch of looneys. I prefer Sergeant Pepper and psychedelic music."
Little did we know that Pete Townshend's concept record was precursor to Tommy and Quadrophrenia.

So, written by the late, lamented John Entwistle, I give you the 60 second Heinz Baked Beans commercial.

Anglophile that I am, I'm off to watch the season premier of Downton Abbey.
I will not, however, be dining on beans on toast.
The first time I had a "Full English Breakfast" set before me, I was delighted with the grilled tomato but rather taken aback by the beans... Came to appreciate them in context, but not a convert.

Do You Remember These?~

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT0BLYOmfbg&feature=youtu.be

Saturday morning cerials chapters 1 through 15,
Fly paper, penny loafers, Lucky Strike Green.
Flat tops, sock hops, Studebaker, Pepsi Please,
Ahh, do you remember these?

Cigar Bands, on your hand, your daddy's socks rolled down.
Sticks, no plugs and aviator caps with flaps that button down.
Movie stars on Dixie Cups, and knickers to your knees,
Ahh, do you remember these?

The Hit Parade, grape Tru-Aid, The Sadie Hawkins Dance,
Pedal pushers, duck tail hair and peggin' your pants.
Howdie-Doodie, Tutti-Frutti, the seam up the back of her hose,
Ahh, do you remember those?

James Dean, he was keen, Sunday movies were taboo,
The Senior Prom, Judy's mom, Rock-n-Roll was new.
Cracker Jack prize, stars in your eyes, ask Daddy for the keys,
Ahh, do you remember these?

The boogey man, lemonade stands, takin' your tonsils out,
Indian burns, -n- wait your turn, and 4 foul balls you're out.
Cigarette loads, -n- secret codes, -n- savin' lucky stars,
Can you remember back that far?

The boat neck shirts, and fender skirts and crinoline petticoats,
Mum's the word, and a dirty bird and a double root beer float.
Moon hub caps, and loud heel taps, and he's a real gone cat.
Ahh, do you remember that?

Dancin' close, little moron jokes, and cooties in her hair,
Captain Midnight, Ovaltine, and The Whip at the County Fair.
Charles Atlas Course, Roy Roger's Horse, and "only The Shadow knows"
Ahh, do you remember those?

Gable's charm, Frog in your arm, loud mufflers, pitchin' woo,
Going steady, Veronica and Betty, white bucks, and "Blue Suede Shoes"
Knock Knock jokes, and "Who's there?", Dewey, Dewey who?;
Do we, do we remember these? Yes, we do, Ahh do we do we remember these?

Its a bit rough round the edges. One of these days I may get used to synchronising my singing and playing perfectly. For now, this'll have to do. ;-)

Ok, here is my second entry, this is my attempt at the First Time by Robin Beck (this song was in a Coca Cola Commercial, which led to it's success in my opinion), I added some extra vocals and percussion to make it a little better, or distract you from the vocal (this is a hard song to sing ;)). And of course I played around a bit with iMovie.

That was terrific! When I saw that it was "Once Bitten Twice Shy", I was sure if it was the Great White song. I don't know how you kept a straight face through the song, it actually looked like you were starting to crack a smile at the end. Well done.

It's funny how a song that gets used for a commercial gets forever identified with that product. I can't hear "Anticipation" by Carly Simon without thinking of ketchup or hear "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys without visions of Sunkist soda in my head.

Love this, peewee! I'm a huge Beck fan and you did a great take on a great song!
My list of "maybe"s for this week has 5 Beck songs on it, but somehow, I forgot about this one. Started working on "Mt. Dew Rock," but gave up on it to pursue something slightly less profane. I guess I just heard it or sang it so many times that I didn't notice all the F-bombs anymore. And editing it would remove half the song.
Anywho..... Excellent entry and excellent taste in music as always!

Any mc chris fans out there? Almost 10 albums worth of songs packed full of, or based completely on product brands. Even a couple of them appearing in tv commercials recently. Not to mention a few hit shows he wrote for Cartoon Network which have gone on to become their own brand. If you haven't already heard any of his songs, check some out. If you're into Star Wars, candy, cartoons, hip-hop and/or being a nerd, he's writing your anthem. If you think that is strange stuff for someone to be rapping about and you don't even like rap music- you'll love it the most. Sure, it's novelty music- of which, I consider myself to a connoisseur (oxymoron?) - but it's also legitimately brilliant.

-[with my best "Micro-Machines Man" voice]---- I am in no way affiliated with mc chris, nor have I been offered any goods or monies in exchange for my testimonial. Claims made are solely the original opinion of this uker. mcchris wil not make you run faster or jump higher. However, recent studies suggest listening to mc chris songs may be linked to enhanced well-being, nerd-cultural awareness, and marked improvement in hoodie ninja skills.

Now that I've dug my grave, I better get to work on a love song about deep-fried potato bricks from a roast beef joint. It's not easy fitting this many bad ideas into just two minutes of video.

SWEET! I haven't heard that Rice Krispies jingle before. That was like a tongue twister, how many takes did you have? There's just something special about old jingles, especially when they are about products that bring back good memories. That reminds me, I bought some Rice Krispies and marshmallows a few months back to make Rice Krispy Treats. My wife keeps reminding me that the treats aren't going to make themselves. :)

Incredible job Ginny! I've heard snipets of that jingle, but never the whole thing. The single sponsor makes me think of the movie "Quiz Show". Now I think we are ready for "99 Bottles of Schlitz on the Wall". :)

There was a documentary on the 100 year anniversary of Chevrolet on the Velocity channel last year. It was cool to see the history of the company and all of the changes over time.

Don't know why but I couldn't upload this to YT or Vimeo after several tries I decided to plug into a Chromebook and do it from there. Chromebooks don't speak iOS even as drives it seems. So I posted it to FB and that's what this link is to. Is this a first? Will it work? Time will tell...

Okay, links to facebook videos show up here as inert white boxes, so...

Well, at last an easy week, at least for me. This song is completely about a particular product – the brand name is mentioned no less than 37 times.

And who doesn’t love Jo Jo, aka Jonathan Richman?

On the sad side, I was the proud owner of the named instrument for over 30 years. On the happy side, I sold it a few months back to finance the purchase of a wonderous Collings uke, so I think I am better off.

I’m hope you will enjoy this, but that is all due to Jonathan. It’s Jonathan’s world, we just live in it. Oh, and he is still touring – catch him if he comes to your town.

It is operatic (I made that up...right here on the spot), at least for some of us. I have gone so far past the casual "this is for fun" that it is sometimes detrimental and far too involved...These songs, they are the palette by which we paint our lives. They always were, but getting them out, having that vehicle- empowered and powerless I suppose. As for me, I'd love to take your photograph. Thank you my friend.

The Misfits are cult rock & roll
worshipped by a few but ignored on the whole
Meet the Feebles is a film cult classic
It's basically unknown but some say it's fantastic

Most women that I meet seem totally unphased
Til sometimes there somebody who seems totally amazed
I might not be in magazines as a heart throb face
But in a few devoted arcs I've found a strong fan base

I'm a cult boyfriend, not a mainstream show
I'm lonely or I'm worshiped by a lady in the know
When you’re a cult boyfriend life’s always intense
They love me or they hate me no one’s on the fence

Cerebus is cult comic book series
It’s got fans but it’s never found in movies or in theories
WFMU is a cult radio station
Always tuned to by a few devoted fans around the nation

For every time I couldn’t get a second date or even first
Why does one think I’m the best when all the rest think I’m the worst
All of those times no one at all wanted to know
If I’m really all that awesome wouldn’t more people think so

I guess Cult Boyfriend is the term for me
It’s always been quality over quantity
A cult boyfriend’s like a record in a bargain bin
No one knows what it’s worth ‘til a collector comes in

Hm, who are some cult literary figures I could honor
Maybe J. G. Ballard or Flannery O’Connor
Haagus and Fugu, that’s like food for cult eaters
Jim Jones, Charles Manson, Fater Yed, they’re cult leaders

Anyways the point being, do I have to magical?
Can’t we date a few months and then move on normal and casual
Suicidally alone and the totally smothered
It’s so much pressure when you go from one extreme to the other

I guess Cult Boyfriend is the term for me
It’s always been quality over quantity
A cult boyfriend’s like a record in a bargain bin
No one knows what it’s worth ‘til a collector comes in

I was working on a claw hammer version of Mercedes Benz but I wasn't quick enough off the mark it seems .........spent a couple of days getting the technique so I'm happy enough having learnt something even though I've now aborted the song.

There is no rule against playing a song that has already been posted. I think a claw hammer version of Mercedes Benz would be a great addition!

Great job guys! Show 'em your green tongue. Ha! Even the regular NyQuil without the decongenstant knocks me out. Although, you can't use the regular NyQuil to produce crystal meth. I learned that from watching Breaking Bad.

I put this together for this week with a video that Rex (Jazzbanjorex) sent me after "Mexico" week so I could jam along with him. Fit perfect with this weeks theme but...I did forget to put in week 99 ): Will I be forgiven? If not that's okay cuz I plan on making another entry, if I find the time that is! Oh, yeah, none of the claymation is mine this time.

Back from vacation, back to the Seasons!!

Just saw that this one has already been done – sorry, we'd been thinking about this one for a long time. This was the opportunity now. Janis Joplin's last song, and the first time for me (Steffen) to use my new baby along to Miriam's Kamaka: a Weissenborn shaped short scale hollow neck acoustic lap steel from the 1929s/1930s. Hope you guys like. btw: great stuff here, Seasonistas!

You get twice as much for your money from Berni this week folks!

First here is an original song of mine written in Spanish back in the 1990s for our "pop" group. It explores the theme of the obsession of our youth with brand name clothes and mentions at least SIX popular brands of clothes or shoes here.

http://youtu.be/MhAz7iT-OJs

It will be followed by a "translation" (or strictly speaking, an adaptation) of the song that I wrote this week in English to give those of you who don't speak any Spanish a flavour of the song. See my next post for that link.

As usual, the lyrics are in the description on YouTube.

Not sure if it happens elsewhere in the world but in Australia we refer to MacDonalds as Macca's.

I have written some words to the tune of "Imagine". It does seem sacrilege to use such a great song (especially with my voice) for this, but that's how it goes if you write a great song. Someone will come along and knock it off to sell something.

http://youtu.be/mDKWEjd9lPw

Imagine there's no Macca's
No French Fries too
Big Macs have gone missing
What would Ronald do?

Imagine all the people
Fitting into their clothes woohoo oo o o

What if there's no KFC
What would the Colonel do?
Go back to growing cotton
Making linen just for you

Imagine no commercials
No ads, that would be cool woohoo oo o o

You may say I'm a dreamer
But can you see us all with ukes
Strumming to make a better place
Every one with Flukes

But wait, I've just remembered
It's Google ads that let us play
So our uke Seasonistas
Get to see the light of day

Imagine no commercials
I don't think that I can woohoo oo o o
You may say I'm a dreamer
But this one's shattered now
And if all were Seasonistas
We'd be better off somehow

Wish I had heard the distortion version with your vocals over it. Bet that would have sounded great (not that the acoustic version was bad, mind you).
Another friendly tip when taking a video from your phone is to turn it horizontally so it matches the layout of the computer screen when you upload it and you don't end up with a narrow vertical video.

There's a plate getting kicked off the table, candy bars flying in front of the camera, it's chaos! :) That was awesome, and the mistimed Twix appearance actually made it better.
Haha, thanks, twas punk anarchy afterall ;)

Do I dare ask why you have <tck> embedded in a song about the Super 8 Motel? :p

OK- Tried Soda Town and my head nearly exploded. Gary- you get to keep your song. I decided to do one that includes a single reference to a soda.
And I decided to do it for Shady Sidebury, even though I flubbed her handle on the video.
I know her as Casey Bee, and she is often a ray of sunshine. This is for her....

Maybellene was Chuck Berry's first single and featured fast cars - a Ford V8 and a Cadillac. Such huge chunks of metal never really fitted on our narrow twisty roads but it's a great fun song and it was on the list that Gary linked to or was it the one someone (Koa Dependant, I think) posted later?

Anyway...

I'm a cult boyfriend, not a mainstream show
I'm lonely or I'm worshiped by a lady in the know
When you’re a cult boyfriend life’s always intense
They love me or they hate me no one’s on the fence

And this son ain’t probably gonna go far past an open mic
I guaranteed though two or three people are really gonna like it.

..Jeez ...you could be channelling Alex Harvey from SAHB .....I really like this ...Rock On !!

Ketchup loves potatoes! :) Great job and excellent song choice! Initially, I thought that the most entries would have to do with food. Then someone posted that cars would get the most entries. I'll have to tally up the number of car and food entries and see.

And it's fitting that a song about Heinz Ketchup is number 57 on the playlist. :)

Okay, here's the first one. Fun simple parody song by another talented local songwriter - my dear friend Stuart Markus (http://www.StuartMarkus.com) from Long Guyland, New York. He has lots of terrific original songs, and is one-third of the glorious harmony trio Gathering Time (http://www.Gathering-Time.com) - also dear friends. This is how Stu makes his living, so I hope you'll check him out - you'll both benefit. The song mentions not only the title vehicle, but also three others near the end.

Here's Gathering Time doing this song (http://youtu.be/LBWHOmXEvk4).
And here's Stu - the video I learned it from (http://youtu.be/omOPowcDUoI).

These are the chords and lyrics as Stu does them in his video, to the best of my (non-guitar-reading) ability to discern ... I made a few minor changes (some of them intended :-) ) in my version. In particular, the final "sandwich chord" between the two G's is a G13: 0203. You knew I had to. :)
(Can't leave a simple 4-chord song alone - just can't do it.)

Range Rover

I drove the Range Rover for many a year

It was hard on the gas but a pleasure to steer

And it’s no, nay, never [clap clap clap clap]

I went to a dealer I used to frequent

Great job Wendy! What a fun song, I'll have to check out Stu's songs, thank you for posting the link. On a side note, thank you for setting up the Seasons page on Facebook. It's just one more place for the Seasonistas to get together. :)

Great theme Gary. I like it a lot. Here's an original song I wrote with a few products in it. I didn't write it for this weeks theme but it fit very well. This is "80's Girl" with mentions of Subaru, Buick and Popsicle.

I'm glad you could participate Jon! What a great original song! I really like the sound of the strum pattern, it made the song sound much fuller.

Hectic first week back at work after the holiday break---teaching does have a couple perks---so I haven't had as much time as I'd like to enjoy this excellent Season. Great theme, Gary, and I'll enjoy the playlist as soon as I get a chance.

Been a while since I've done a Clash song, and this one's just right for this week...

Excellent Ralf! "I get good advice from the advertising world" :) Yes, there are so many great videos this week. When I decided on the theme, I had no idea what to expect. It has been AWESOME!

Thanks so much, Gary! It was fun to sing. Stu has some great (mostly original, often serious) songs. His trio, Gathering Time, are all lovely, fun. charming, talented people, and they sing harmonies together that will knock your socks off, especially live. (And, of course, on their brand new, just out, latest CD.)

And thanks for the Facebook group plug. If anybody doesn't yet know, or hasn't gotten around to joining, we are having all kinds of fun over at http://www.facebook.com/groups/Seasonistas. Come join us!

Well, I haven't been sleeping much some nights, so I made a second video. Been planning this song all week. It has choreography. It's very sophisticated.

And now, I believe, it's a few minutes past midnight Hawaii time, and I'm having computer issues. So it will be a few minutes late. Even though I finished it before deadline. I sure hope it still counts!

'Cause it rocks. You really must see it.

Thanks, Gary.

Range Rover
Stuart Markus

G C
I drove the Range Rover for many a year
G D G
It was hard on the gas but a pleasure to steer
G C
But now the stock market has crashed through the floor
G D G
And I never will drive the Range Rover no more

D G
And it’s no, nay, never [clap clap clap clap]
C
No, nay, never, no more
G C
Will I drive the Range Rover
G D G
No, never, no more

G C
I went to a dealer I used to frequent
G D G
And I told him that all of my lease miles were spent
G C
He looked at me credit and said to me nay
G D G
Because half of my net worth had melted away

D D7 G
And it’s no, nay, never [clap clap clap clap]
C
No, nay, never, no more
G C
Will I drive the Range Rover
G D G
No, never, no more

G C
I pulled from me pocket a gold card so bright

Great job Wendy! What a fun song, I'll have to check out Stu's songs, thank you for posting the link.

A quick heads-up, Wendy & Gary: If you use a monopaced typeface, such as Courier, Andale Mono or Consolas, for your chords & lyrics, and place that text between

tags, then the chords and lyrics will line up in your post exactly as you intend them to.

Either type in the tags as text (use upper or lower case; but close up the space between 'CODE' and ']', obvs); or go 'Advanced', select the text to be placed within the

tags and click on the '#' symbol in the third row of formatting options.

Well, this took me way more takes than I had time for, so it still isn't what I wanted it to be, but here it is all the same. I've been wanting to do this tune for a while, and this was a great excuse. Great week Gary!

Great video, as always, Matt! It's nice to be able to actually hear the words to this song.
The people from whom I learnt the words to this song are the magnificent Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (http://www.ukuleleorchestra.com); and here's their version, performed on a New Year's Eve TV show about 5 years ago.

Quite unfair, I know, to compare 7 ukuleles with one, but if you have never seen them, you must, next time they're in your neighbourhood (they've just come off a world tour, including N. America and Aus., so I'm sure you'll get a chance).

This is "nrrrd grrrl" by mc chris. Originally, I was going to do "Potato Cakes." Then, I got the crazy idea that I'd have time to do a 3-song medley. What happened instead was me spending most of my time trying to program drum machines and midi sequencers, only to realize I wasn't going to make this week's deadline. Hahaha, oh well. So, what I have is this one song and the audio quality didnt turn out how I would've like. The keyboard melody was sampled from the orignal song. The drums were done hip-hop style on a vintage drum machine (I have so much more respect for hip hop artists after trying to pull this off,) and a few tracks of backup vocals, so I could be my own hype-man. So, I just played/sang along with the backing tracks while recording the final video on my phone. The uke came out sounding very tinny because my homemade uke preamp is on the fritz. In retrospect, I wish I'd spent less time trying to perfect the audio, since I had to settle for phone quality sound. I was just too sleepy to continue. In fact, I fell asleep while it the video was still uploading to youtube from the iMovie app last night.
When I realized I couldnt pull the whole thing off in time, I chose to do just this song because it best represents who mc chris is- the orininator of nerdcore rap. Also, because its chocked full of product placement, which I'll list because its hard to make out most of them in the lyrics.

Brand names in the lyrics:

Okay, so this might at first appear to be the same song Lumpy Wafflesquirt did (apologies to Lumpy - great minds think alike - I have been planning this since I first heard the theme). But, in fact, only the first verse is similar (my tune is slightly different). I too added additional lyrics - in my case, not about fast food restaurants. Only the second verse names additional brands, so Lumpy still wins hands-down for most product names in a single song. But mine has choreography.

The third verse is about all of YOU, so be sure to watch that far. Apologies to Rex for the punch line.

See if you can discern the deep hidden meaning in the lyrics. I have added gestures of even more profound significance to help you "get" it.

Having missed the MTV deadline, I am still a video-editing Luddite, so I apologize for the sub-stellar audio quality. I audio-recorded the uke and vocals, and then played them back on the computer speakers while I video'd the "enactment". Low-tech (read "lazy"), non-multi-tracking approach. I promise to develop some editing skills and better production values in future. Eventually.

[I'm going to go edit it back into the earlier post too. At the moment of this posting it is no longer there, though I was sure I saw it there last night. No wonder it has hardly any views yet. Go check it out. Really. Your life will be better for it. (Depending on your definition of "better".)]

Loved the banjo verse :^)
I was originally going to do Special Brew by Bad Manners but all the chords sheets I found were the same and I am convinced they are wrong and I couldn't get it right. I couldn't get a sound I was happy with either so I went for an easier option.
I'm not convinced that I have the most companies, but probably do have highest %age of words which are companies as there are only a few 'and's in addition.
Howsoever, I enjoyed your rendition. I rarely do it at campfires as I get confused with the actions :^(

Special Brew? By Bad Manners? Should have asked me. I've got the sheet music - autographed by Buster B himself :)

First, you'll want the horns:

True, Gary. Flubs with a smile is part of my charm. :)

True about the order. You can see I was late on the first Cadillac gesture, because I suddenly forgot what came next. I was pretty proud of myself for getting through it with only those two small goofs. The dog verse, with its tempo changes, was kind of challenging, both to play and act out. I was really pleased with how well I did it. Love that cocker spaniel. So much fun to play those three dogs!

When recording the audio, I actually had a chart in front of me. I never do that on video ... I always memorize. But it was late, I was in a hurry, and you couldn't see me. And because I was going to be doing the gestures to it, I wanted the timing to be as solid as possible. My usual stumble, laugh, and pick up a beat or two late routine wasn't going to cut it. I did have it memorized and could do it fairly clean without the chart, but I always make at least one stumble, so I decided for once to sacrifice principle for quality.

Because, you know, it was that important to me that you all experience the true profundity of "Pizza Hut".

Oh, thanks so much, Lumpy. I enjoyed yours too. Two very different confections built on the same base. I also had started to write a final verse where instead of repeating three things, I was going to list every major US fast food chain I could think of ... humorously in rhythm, of course. I still think it would be fun, but way harder than the rest and I didn't want to take the time to construct it ... and learn it! ... especially since I was up against the deadline already. Plus how would you gesture it? So I left the fast-food theme with you.

Doesn't everybody mess up the gestures at camp? I'd have thought that was part of the fun.
