Currently I have a Kaala tenor (Japanese made, solid koa)and really love it. The sound is warm and bright and very full. The only problem I have with it is a lack of sustain. I have been looking to buy another tenor to compliment the Kaala. I am looking at Kamaka and Kanilea. Which of these brands has warmth and sustain? Also, which of these brands has good projection? I play mostly classical pieces on the uke. For you guys that own these which is your go to instrument?

What strings do you have on your Kala tenor?

Right now it has Aquila's but I have tried a few sets. It has decent sustain but I am hoping for an instrument that really rings. The Kaala is a keeper though. It's voice is very good.

While not all koa's will sound alike, given you have all all-Koa tenor already, why not try another tonewood? Maybe something that leans brighter so you have a different sound?
