I recently bought my second uke. A tenor Oscar Schmidt OU7TE. I really enjoy it, but the C string is overpowering. It rings stronger and longer than any of the other strings and is very distracting. I have little experience. Should I replace the strings, have the instrument set up, or return it and hope for a better experience. I purchased it from Amazon as I tend to receive gift cards from there. Thank you for any suggestions

Kind of normal to some extent. Better or worse depending on strings, wound vs unwound, etc. If it bother's you too much, put a low G on it as well to balance out the sound. Also, carefully mating a string set with compatible diameters and tensions such as Southcoast does will minimize this effect.

you can also try raising or lowering the pitch a half step, maybe the uke just resonates more at the C pitch. I go for changing the strings too, both are easy fixes.

Thanks. I will start with some new strings and see how it goes
