Great Theme Myrna. I have been out filming Hoarfrost (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg16AzpZMaQ) and it is -15C most nights
so the hoarfrost crystals are really building up on every surface. Perhaps I should
have saved the footage for a song. To get folks in the mood here is a bonus from

This a pretty famous song about a Cold Cold Heart by Hank Williams.

guys. and girls of course. i have been trying to think (it's not something i do a lot, so i don't find it easy!) ...

is there a song, with "cold cold heart" in the lyrics, that is NOT the cold cold heart song that pa did, the hank williams one???

when i go looking for it, and i'm thinking it's in the lyrics but NOT in the title, anyway however i search for it all that comes up is the hank one

and no i cannot think of any of the other lyrics!

maybe i am imagining the whole thing

but if i'm NOT imagining it, and any of you have the foggiest idea what song it might be that a tiny part of my tiny brain has latched on to and won't let go, maybe you could take pity on me and let me know what you think it might be?

Cold Heart - Q5

Where are you going now?
Why do you make me always wonder
What are you feeling now?'
Do you dream like other people?

I know you sit and talk about us
And laugh out loud
Why don't you stop and think about it
Or let me out
Of your cold, cold heart

Let me out
Of your cold, cold heart
Cold heart

Why do you walk away
When I ask you what you need and
I want to feel alive
What do you want I'll be there somehow

You always say there's no problem
And then you're gone
Why don't you stop and think about it
Or let me out
Of your cold, cold heart

We can stick around wasting each other's time
Playing these games twisting each other's minds
Or we can make a stand to be together
I hope that you will stay

Let me out
Of your cold, cold heart

Send "Cold Heart" Ringtone to your Cell

Midge Ure – Cold, Cold Heart

When I was just a boy
The voice of an angel came to me
It said your future is there inside your cold cold heart
But I was just a boy
And a boy sees what he wants to see
And I saw nothing to share inside this cold cold heart
Somebody should have told me
That when you're born to this world
Your life starts slipping away
Come stand beside me
Come gather round me
Come stand beside me, Come gather round me
An' heat this cold cold heart
With love inside me
With arms around me
With love inside me, with arms around me
We'll heat this cold cold heart
Oh, when I became a man
The voice of a devil said to me
It said forever you'll live inside your cold cold heart
But I'm a better man
A wiser man who wants to be free
To have someone to care about this cold cold heart
Somebody should have loved me
They should have taken me on
Instead of taking away
Come stand beside me
Come gather round me
Come stand beside me, Come gather round me
An' heat this cold cold heart
With love inside me
With arms around me
With love inside me, with arms around me
We'll heat this cold cold heart
Come stand beside me
Come gather round me
Come stand beside me, Come gather round me
An' heat this cold cold heart
With love inside me
With arms around me
With love inside me, with arms around me
We'll heat this cold cold heart

The Rosedales - Cold, Cold Heart

My winter has finally come.
My veins are caving in, I feel my last deep breath of life.
I want to learn to love,
But I just can't find a way through this season's change.

And if I die alone tonight, time stands still and shadows fly.
It's such a faded memory; will I ever be set free?
I close my eyes and start to pray; I've become a memory.
This heart beats no more today.

My winter is finally done,
Smiling underneath blood moonlight with the scorpion.
I want to learn to love.
Now I just have found a way through this season's change.

And if I die alone tonight, time stands still and shadows fly.
It's such a faded memory; will I ever be set free?
I close my eyes and start to pray; I've become a memory.
This heart beats no more today.

Cold, cold heart
Beats no more today.
Cold, cold heart.

Cold, cold heart,
Broken from its chains.
Cold, cold heart.

And if I die alone tonight, time stands still and shadows fly.
It's such a faded memory; will I ever be set free?
I close my eyes and start to pray; I've become a memory.
This heart beats no more today.

Cold, cold heart.
Cold, cold heart.
Cold, cold heart.
Cold, cold heart.

Wet, Wet, Wet, "Cold, Cold Heart"

Suddenly, you get a crazy feeling
Then in harmony
I won't be trading places
Now you're history,
Forget the time I let you play
Your mystery 'n' I don't know

Happy from the start
Then ripped and torn apart
Looking for a place within your heart

Cold, cold heart
Not like the stars that shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Don't you remember
Cold, cold heart of mine

Close to me you're taking out the boy in me
Your chemistry
Frightens all the life from me
Your honesty
Sometimes ain't so good
For your mystery 'n' I don't know

Happy from the start
Then ripped and torn apart
Looking for a place within your heart

Cold, cold heart
Not like the stars that shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Don't you remember
Cold, cold heart
Cold, cold heart of mine

Love's for nothing but you try to get much more
Looking for something you never had before
The words left unspoken
Just walked right out the door for evermore
For evermore

The magic that love brings
The magic, oh,
That lights the stars so bright
Shine so bright
Yeah, gonna tell the world I love her
Gonna tell the world I love her

Cold, cold heart of mine
Don't you remember
Cold, cold heart
Shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Don't you remember
Cold, cold heart, yeah

I think that's enough cold, cold hearts for now (ed.)

But Wendy - Portland is a BIG city! The population of Portland and outlying areas is over 2 million. There must be thousands of uke players in the Portland area. That being said - if the City of Roses ever hosts a uke fest I'd be willing to fly down for it.:)

Oh this is just lovely. Thanks for redoing it for this Season. I love the sound of that uke.

It's unseasonably warm here as well -for us. It's been raining and in the 40s [7 degreesCelsius] (10 to 20 degrees warmer than normal in January). All our snow is melting (and avalanching in the mountains). I actually went into my beehives yesterday to add some frames of honey because I could. It's hard to winter over bees here but with our winter beginning so much later than normal this year and it being warmer to boot we may just succeed in having a healthy bee population when the first pollen shows up in March.

code:"Sacrifice"

It's a human sign
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong

Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands

Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through

And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all

Mutual misunderstanding
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act

We lose direction
No stone unturned
No tears to damn you
When jealousy burns

Myrna, we wish you could have been here with us. We were working with The Little White Uke and had some time left over so we figured we try to knock this out. One run through, one take. Bada boom!

Here's a cold song from a warm place.
It was 60 here today, but 10 below not long ago.
Throw another log on the fire, Myrna, and look at some seed catalogs.
Those 18 hours of daylight days will be back again before you know it.

This is one of those sappy videos with a long introduction, so feel free to advance to 4:20 to skip the music history and play-along tutorial.

http://youtu.be/amrwAwqzuQQ

I tried to adapt Dr. John's New Orleans piano style to uke and U-Bass.
In the intro I demonstrate the hammer-on licks for the G and F chords, they look like this:

A--2--3-2--0--1-0- -3--
E--3--------1--------3--
C--2--------0--------0--
G--0--------2--------0--
The other little riff is written like this:
A--7\\6//7--
E-----------
C--7\\6//7--
G-----------
Chords for the chorus are G F C - C Bb G

Too early in the morning here for me to jam along w/out waking the neighbours, but let me just say, that was FAN-TAS-TIC! I'll certainly be jamming along some time this eve.
(Those hammer-ons turn those G's & F's into sus4s, don't they?)

Your welcome Bird's Eye (; What a relief eh!

Dam! I was sure once I got to Midge Ure and Marti Pellow, I could stop looking (I was also getting a bit worried about thread-jacking)! But congratulations, bonesigh, on scooping the prize!

This could become a great contest-within-a-contest for future seasons though, couldn't it? :) We could call it "Guess the song stuck inside BEVOMU's head"! *ducks'n'runs from TCK v.v. fast!!!*

Btw, the google search terms I used were: "cold heart" lyric -williams -"every dream". The two "-" (minus) terms stripped out anything containing either a reference to HW himself or to his song's first line.

Thanks for the props and the clarification.
I appreciate the help, I was a little inarticulate in the video saying "wiggle your finger."
Those aren't really hammer-ons, are they, since I'm plucking?

The style comes naturally to folk guitar players, something players like decaturcomp use to great effect.
It can liven up a uke song, give a little melodic movement and rhythm to simple chord progressions.

I did a green screen experiment (I got a green cloth from my daughter ages ago that she purchased for this specific goal), so I put some pictures of Apeldoorn in the background. In the upper horizontal bar is a pin image: that's the Add Marker icon. Click that and your options come up.

Be sure to choose a name and a pin color; apparently if you don't, on the left-hand list, you're put into a "No Value" grouping, and we KNOW that's not true!

In the 1980s, a friend of mine inherited a bunch of handwritten manuscripts that had been passed down in his family for a couple of generations. Among them was a report by the underwriters of the loss of the ship "Albion" and the consequences for the crew's family, the ship's captain and the owners. It was a tale that could have come straight out of the pages of Melville. It is a tale of survival against the elements (cold taking pride of place among them), heartbreaking loss, unbelievably cruel indifference, incredible survival and... Well ...

Good gentlefolk, indulge me for a full 6 minutes with the harrowing, yet uplifting tale of "The Wreck of the Albion". I guarantee ye tis a tale that will be difficult for your honours to forget - a full novel in nine stanzas.

http://youtu.be/TBQlgSkibAc

The Albion left the Newfoundland shore,
Sailing away through frozen seas.
A cargo of timber, secure in her hold.
Lord in thy mercy preserve us,
Fifteen Souls was her complement,
A speedy passage, our one intent,
The wild sea's anger on us would be vent,
Lord in thy mercy preserve us.

Two hundred miles off the Newfoundland coast – (S.A.T.F.S.)
Icebergs drifted, silent as ghosts – (L.I.T.M.P.U.)
The wind carried with it a voice still and small,
Like a distant song or the whale's mourning call,
The sun shone dimly, when it shone at all - (L.I.T.M.P.U.)

The carpenter rushed to the captain's side,
"She’s holed!" he shouted, terrified.
All at once she started to list,
Unto her side she began to pitch,
Most grabbed at ropes, but the cabin boy missed.

Despite the cruel elements,
She was dismasted and righted again.
Supplies were lost through nobody’s fault,
Kegs of fresh water were poisoned with salt,
No shelter was left from the rude sea’s assault.

So we remained for three days and nights,
Till a sail was seen by the fourth morning light.
Her captain cried "What is' t you need?”
"Rescue!” every mouth did plead.
But of our position, they took no heed.

Bitter the cries as she hove out of sight,
A curse on that captain who ignored our plight,
We'd search every day, the horizon line,
Burning our timbers at night as a sign,
Till many went crazy from drinking the brine.

No food, no water, we lived off the snow,
Or died with what dignity, we'd left to show.
A whole month passed before rescue arrived,
To find but three men aboard left alive,
They thought it a miracle any survived.

Back home in Liverpool we spied with a shock,
The ship that refused help was birthed in the dock.
Her captain, when challenged, first denied our claim,
Tried with lies to shift the blame.
Then admitted his act with no guilt or shame.

A crowd gathered fast that cruel captain to hang.
Sailing away through frozen seas.
But our captain’s voice above the mob rang.
Lord in thy mercy preserve us.
Said "Go to your homes, no havoc here wreak,
Remember Christ turned the other cheek,
God shall judge all, revenge I’ll not seek,
Lord in thy mercy preserve us.

This is first time I haven't submitted something that was recorded at the last minute on a Sunday, which is usually when I have time to record. I will at the rugby sevens tournament in Vegas this weekend (any rugby fans?) and won't be able to record something then. Luckily yesterday was a holiday for MLK day.

This is 'Wintertime Love' by the Doors.
I forgot to close my closet, so do me a favor and don't look in there.

Oh yeah! That was awesome! Great song choice and really nice delivery. So glad you were able to knock out a vid for this season. Have fun in Vegas!

Thank You Myrna for the kind comments. Lou is so expensive that he probably won't be hired again for a long time. He was easy to work with though so I may reconsider that if I have to in the future ;-)

Ha! I need garageband! I want to have fun changing my vocals!
It might almost be worth getting a cheap Mac laptop just for music mixing.
Which gets me wondering... how many of you use Macs and how many are PC people? I imagine some of you use both. I have a Mac and a PC at work but I find myself doing just about everything on my PC while I play music on my Mac.

<TCK> SO let's talk for a minute. I wanted to play a song about heat for you Myrna, but this nagging recurring thing kept popping in my head. It kind of ended up being this far bigger thing than heat by the time I was done (as usual), and I figured I ought to walk you through it...so it makes sense.
I live in California. Lots of problems with that in and of itself, but it is beautiful here, and my parents are here...so here I stay. Historically, fire has played a really important role in our ecology here, but there are all these folks that want to live here and they spend such ridiculous amounts to do so...well, we put those fires out all the time. Probably not the best idea (see the Oakland Hills Fire for proof).
OK- so that fool-hearty mission to stop the inevitable course of nature is coupled with this years complete lack of rain. This has far-reaching consequences as we grow a ton of food here, but we will worry about that later. For now, we have no water. None. My basin, which normally receives 34" of precipitation by this time of year has gotten 5 1/4". The lakes are drying up, the river is not being pushed...the salmon are not coming to spawn, and well, we are completely hosed if there is a fire (see what I did?).
OK- one step further. We have these friends to the South. A long time ago a well-intentioned person had the great idea to build a big old city in a desert. Well, that city blossomed into the second biggest city in the nation, which is no biggie really, until you realize they have no water either. In fact, we send it to them (and they get some from the Colorado River, which has been reduced to a trickle because of this place...yup- the one that carved the Grand Canyon). In any event, Mr. Mullholland could never have realized this reality, because we up north, well, we got nothing. We cant send nothing to LA. Enter Saint Anne.
With less than 1" of rain in the LA basin this winter, Saint Anne has her skirts billowing. What that means is that the regular and seasonal high and dry winds called the Santa Anna's famous for making any fire in Southern California a LOT bigger than it ought to be, are blowing out of season. And blowing hard. 45 miles an hour and raging...
The bottom line is that with Santa Anna's, no water, and a match...
Well, it is going to get really hot in LA this summer. Really hot. </TCK>
A punk rock song about heat, and LA, and Saint Anne. Sung ina key I am not completely comfortable with.

For the second week in a row, the Seasons have given me a reason to learn a progressive rock song that I've loved for years. This is a song called "Ice" by an American band from the '70s called Crack the Sky. And for an added bonus, YouTube uploaded it in only 20 minutes instead of the 5 hours it's been taking the last few weeks! And we only got 2 inches of snow last night when 10 was predicted! So take that, 16°F high for the day, you can't harsh my buzz -- or is that shivering?

I was beginning to despair that I wouldn't find a song I could do well. Then I remembered that, in 2005, the band Barenaked Ladies wrote some music to accompany a production of Shakespeare's As You Like It at the Stratford Festival in Canada. Here's one of the songs from that production.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqwa_sFNrWA

Here are the words and chords:

Em F#m G F#m
Blow, blow, thou winter wind
C Bm Am
Thou art not so unkind
G B
As man's ingratitude;
Em D G D
Thy tooth is not so keen,
C Bm Am
Because thou art not seen,
G B B
Although thy breath be rude.
C D G Em C D G
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
C D G Em
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
C D Em
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
C D Em
This life is most jolly.

Em D G F#m
Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
C Bm Am
That does not bite so nigh
G B B
As benefits forgot:
Em F#m G F#m
Though thou the waters warp,
C Bm Am
Thy sting is not so sharp
G B B
As a friend remembered not.
C D G Em D C D G G
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
C D G Em
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
C D Em C
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
D Em
This life is most jolly.
[Instrumental]
Em F#m G F#m
C Bm Am G B
Em D G D
C Bm Am G B
C D G Em D C D G G
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
C D G Em G
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
C D C
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
D Em
This life is most jolly.

You have the same problem with hospital parking and extortionate fees as well, then? That's if you can get a parking space in the first place  My wife has a disabled parking badge, so she can park for free but sometimes it's right across the car park and by the time she has walked across the car park and through the hospital her back is really suffering.

This is a collaboration between decateurcomp and myself. He did the original recording, I added some voice and uke, did a video, and put it together. We started on this on Sunday, but decateurcomp told me that strumsilly had done an excellent version before we finish, but we pushed on any ways. I think the song is good enough to support 2 versions this week.

My duet partner pointed out to me that this song is about both the ice in the title and the fire referred to in the song that may, just may, melt that ice. And he's right.

Hope you enjoy this one by John Hiatt.

I think by the time i'd have managed to get a clean recording we would have been in week 198 so here it is BIG warts an all. lol

An old favourite of mine from "Every Picture Tells a Story".
The lyrics tell of the singer's love for his woman after she stayed with him through a particularly brutal winter on the North American frontier.

Not my best performance, but the only one to feature my grandson, Lucas. He has his own ukulele when he visits. Obviously an old one which he has trodden on and cracked, but he has the strumming action down OK.

He calls all Ukuleles "Murrays". It took us a while to figure it out, but we think he gets it from the red Wiggle, Murray, who plays guitar.

I think this might be my favorite Season so far. I got to do a nice duet with decateurcomp on the cold side, and then there is this one. I was working on it last week for a regualr audio recording, but it seemed to fit in with the bonus theme, so I took the backing tracks I already had and just let fly. I get a little excited with this one.

The music is essentially a draft - I plan to finish it with some electric uke solos, but there wasn't time to get it done this week (and the East-Start uke has not arrived!), and that would have made it longer anyways.

Hope you all enjoy it - it's for the HOT side of things.

PC for me. Wish I had garage band too (: Though I can use my Wondershare video editor to change my voice. It's funny how I was just thinking about doing a duet with my male persona, then, bam there was Linda and Lou. Great job btw! I've done a squeeky voice before and that was fun. I've been busy and if I don't check on the season every day I never get caught up! Hope to post at least one song this week.

As young Dave is my spiritually adopted Son I must agree that too many chords simply makes things sound funny.
Also, Jazz has been known to cause incontinence
"The famous complaint of Emperor Joseph II about The Marriage of Figaro - "too many notes, Mozart" - is generally perceived to be a gaffe by a blockhead. He however, had never played the notoriously complex Ukulele d' Amour."

Woody Guthrie is quoted as saying that anybody who uses more than three chords is just showing off, but I have to disagree. Well, I guess I would, since I would be a serious offender in his book. And while I love a good three chord song as much as anybody, I also love the rich harmonies that you get with those old jazz standards. Chacun à son goût.

I agree Doug, Imo Playing three chords (especially without chord voicing or picking) are great for singalongs, get togethers and where you want the vocals to take precedence over your ukin'.
My real passion is the ukulele first and foremost so I am naturally drawn to wanting to do more else it ceases to be a challenge or fun for me.

Theres no right or wrong, its about doing what you're happy doing ..........Vive la difference !!

A couple of years back I went on a fabulous fiddle course run by Gregor Borland (Master Scots Fiddler). It was great fun. But...

... My problem with learning tunes is I never remember them if they don't have lyrics. So, I wrote some lyrics for the beautiful slow tune we were learning. Lyrics that were gifted to me by the muse (no idea why I was writing about bleak tundra landscapes in the middle of a Valencian summer).

This Season's theme inspired me to finally go back to the original recording I made in class and multi-track to add Ukulele and voices and then to illustrate it for Season 101.

Hope you like it - it's very different from my normal stuff - especially the deep baritone vocals.

My humble submission this week. There's a little story behind this one. Though I just wrote it today this parody was inspired by my little girl. When she was about 2 years old she came up to me and tugged on my shirt and said, out of the blue, "Hot mama, can I get on your lap?" She called me Hot Mama for about a year. I loved it (: I did a close up so perhaps you can learn this bluesy tune I learned from a workshop with Del Ray.

Wow some great stuff and talented newcomers this week! Welcome!

Here's a song that I couldn't quite leave undone, it also qualifies for last week's theme, as Devo lost their drummer Alan Myers last year. I watched some videos of them performing this that sent me down the Devo Rabbit hole (http://youtu.be/yyLhugvmzls) for quite some time. But I have returned with a late night version of "Snowball". Hoping to get the kid involved in another entry tomorrow, we'll see if that works.

Glad to have inspired you to learn this one- it rocks for sure!

Here's my summer song.
My wife spends several hours at the hospital regularly - I spend the time in a harbourside park to avoid the extortion - they call parking fees.
James Taylor's Summer's Here - dumbed down so I can play it. It has chords that DougF would do well but not me.

Great little number pabrizzer. We've got balmy breezes blowing here today too, believe it or not. They are called the Chinooks and in the middle of the winter we generally have a bit of a thaw and the warm air of the Pacific blows north and brings us warmer weather. This is an unusually long and warm Chinook Wind we've been having. They started about a week ago and there's no end in sight. We set a record yesterday for the warmest day ever in January (52 degrees/11 degrees celsius). Our snow is nearly gone. Winter will come back again no doubt- it's Alaska after all. But we are definitely on the upswing! We gained almost 5 minutes of daylight yesterday. That's a gain of half hour a week- spring is coming soon!

I was beginning to despair that I wouldn't find a song I could do well. Then I remembered that, in 2005, the band Barenaked Ladies wrote some music to accompany a production of Shakespeare's As You Like It at the Stratford Festival in Canada. Here's one of the songs from that production.

edit: At the end of my first complete watch-through, YouTube surprised me with the fact that I'm not the first to sing these words in a Seasons song. Ralf did one (to a different tune) in the 10th season: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsQ2ZbK1lW4

This is great you guys! Enjoyed it immensely. The two versions are each unique and add so much- glad you decided to post your collab.
Great editing btw.

It doesn't get any hotter than this classic June and Johnny song. How long does it take you to record those harmonies? They are absolutely beautiful.

Hey thanks Myrna. I know this song has been done a million times so I appreciated anyone that took the time to watch this one. I love the way that Lennon and Maisy sing this song so I used somewhat their version. It takes me just a few times through to put in a multi harmony track. Takes me much much longer just getting through the original video because Im definately not a one take wonder like Pa. From there I send it to my desktop, pull it into garageband, sing with it a few times and send it back. So to answer that question properly, usually just a few times through to sing the song. The tricky part is getting the settings just right so that the melody isn't over shadowed by the harmony track. Sometimes Ill listen to it back and play with the volumes or the vocal settings for longer than it takes to lay it down. Short answer...not very long or I wouldn't do it at all. Problem with me is everything I grew up singing we did in three part harmony so I really have to make myself leave it simple sometimes and as you can see that doesn't happen very often. To me it just sounds so lonely. Same with reverb. Some people don't care for it but I fell it gives that little sound of comfort. I guess the little amount of echo makes me feel like my sound isn't lonely. Does that make any sense at all? Trial and error. Maybe in a year from now Ill do it different:)

The harmonies you get are gorgeous. For me to add even one harmony is difficult - I film the lead, then import to WMM, produce it then export it to the desktop, use a video converter and then import it into a different video editing program that allows me to add a second audio track, then film the harmony as I listen to the lead, then do all the importing/producing/converting/importing and editing all over again. I need to figure out an easier way to multi-track. I want to start singing more harmonies with myself but it can take hours to produce a 3 minute video using my current system.

Here is my grumpy version of Four Strong Winds which also mentions snow so hopefully qualifies as my second entry. My love for this song was tested to the full with my attempts at recording this. It really was one of those songs that I just can't get through without errors. Very frustrating although slightly tongue in cheek. I think by the time i'd have managed to get a clean recording we would have been in week 198 so here it is BIG warts an all. lol
Perhaps the stupid hat was a bad omen.

Beautiful song! I love this one - I almost did it for moon's numbers week (29th Season).
So glad you persevered- very nice version. I think 40 is the most takes I've ever done for a Season.
And I love the hat!

What a cute little Seasonista! And a very nice version of this song as well. Thanks for putting this one on the playlist Rustyy!

He calls all Ukuleles "Murrays". It took us a while to figure it out, but we think he gets it from the red Wiggle, Murray, who plays guitar.

Math and Physics Club: Cold as Minnesota

A way imperfect performance here, but wearing the extra clothing made me want to want to finish and not try endlessly for the imaginary perfect performance.
Never heard this song before. Such a cheerful melody for such a depressing song. And you get extra points for dressing for the cold! :)

Here is my video for Season 101, "respect the cold." This is Tony Mizen's lovely arrangement of Vivaldi's Winter (slow movement) from The Four Seasons. I hope I am looking sufficiently wintery! In fact, my "scarf" is a sarong so I guess I am seasonally mixing my wardrobe :) I would have added some more winter photos but my computer was taking life far too literally and kept "freezing". No pun intended ;)

Hope you like it!

My this is one of the most unusual entries so far this week. You're right - very different from the songs you normally post. The slow tempo really fit the song and the slideshow was fun to watch. A unique entry for our "cold" Season- thanks for sharing.

One of those rare moments of me-time that I can completely devote to the Seasons. Saskia at work, kids taking a nap, daddy rocking the uke with some good old Neue Deutsche Welle from 1981. Here's Eisbär by Swiss band Grauzone. A song about polar bears...
I don't know Neue Deutsche Welle ever got across the pond, but overhere in Europe Eisbär was a little hit and is still a favorite on alternative radio stations.

I have no idea what this song is about, but it has sun in the title, so that will have to do for a second bonus ;). I used my new steel string project uke I call Frankenstein, as it is made up of part I had lying around. The neck and tuners are from the worst soprano I had, that I destroyed, while trying to make it a travel uke by cutting off the sides. The body is from wood I had lying around. This pickup was a leftover from when I replaced this humbucker with a P90 in one of my guitars. The bridge is one I made for my Mandolin project, but I ended up using another one. The tailpiece is a bracket for a hard drive. Here it is Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden played on Frankenstein.

Howdy!

I haven't been about for a bit, with camera issues and time contraints... (For some reason, Movie Maker won't play the audio portion of the videos on the Tascam PCM/HD, unless I edit the file with a different program first... But I can upload directly from the file to YouTube without an issue... Go Figure! This video may be replcaed by a different version, if the convesion software does a decent job...)

Anyway - For Myrna, in Celebration (???) of the Miserable Winter we're having in upstate NY - even though it is STILL warmer than I remember as a kid! - Here's my one entry: The Frozen Logger.

I even dug out a Flannel Shirt and Suspenders for this one!

Enjoy!

Yes those of us that have macs are really lucky to have them. I've used macs for years but until I joined the seasons I had never even used iMovie or garageband. Im wondering now what else is on my lap that I don't realize I could be utilizing. Everything you need to make a music video is sitting on my lap outside of my little tiny $30 Go-mic that I really don't need because the builtin mic is very good and the programs are standard and come with the mac. Pricey but worth it!
