Hello everyone!

I've been a silent watcher on this forum for a while now and have gotten a lot of great information. So thank you all for your help in making me a hobbiest builder!

I'm wondering where builders (hobbiest and professionals) get their tuning pegs/machines?

Is there a specific wholesale place you go? I've found a place for fret wire, bindings, strings etc. but not for pegs.

I'm asking because I'm building a bass uke among others. Any options for pegs that would fit thundergut strings would be great!

Thanks!

Jake

i've been thinking about a similar project. here are a few things I have found. I think you want to look for hipshot ultralight bass tuners. they have both a US made and a less expensive Licensed Import (LIC) model.

here are a few links, you can probably find cheaper if you look around:
as mentioned, Kala. they sell the tuners individually.

RoadToad has USA and licensed imports:

From me..I'm a Hipshot distributor, but I don't distribute as much as I use for myself. I actually play bass, but I didn't get on board until I discovered their mini open geared "guitar" tuning machines.

Of course I have Hipshot Ultralight and brass bridges on my basses. Nice balance with that setup.

Wow thank you for all the suggestions!

Kekani- what are these mini open geared guitar tuning pegs you speak of???
