Like many new ukers, I have struggled a bit figuring out the best position for me to hold my tenor uke. I finally settled on a classical guitar style position (i.e., left leg elevated). I had been using the poor man's approach of stacking my left foot on top of my right foot (with left positioned so that its right edge is on the floor). This is fine for brief periods of time, but very uncomfortable for longer practice sessions.
For $10 I bought an On Stage Stands' Guitar Foot stool. It's well made, has five adjustable positions, and collapses nicely for easy portability.
Just thought I'd share given the many threads on "how the heck do I hold my new obsession?"!
