I was watchin Saturday Night Live and this Jason guy just played this song "I'm Yours" does anyone know the chords to it????

:eek::eek::D:D

I know what you're talking about. It's Jason Mraz, and the song is called I'm Yours.

The Chords are:

B F# G#m E for the verses
and chorus. At the end of the chorus, there's one chord of which the name I can't recall, but you barre the first fret and hold a finger on the second fret on the A string.

There's also a little slide between each chord in the intro and in between verses, done by holding down both the A and E on the 2nd fret, sliding up to the 4th fret, and moving back down to the 2nd fret. All this is done very quickly.

A ---2--/--4--/--2-----------
E ---2--/--4--/--2-----------
C -----------------------------
G ---------------------------

The strumming is completely up to you.

Oh, and the mystery chord I was talking about is a Db7. So the order goes:

Verse 1
------------
B
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
F#
I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that I melted
G#m
I fell right through the cracks
E
Now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

Chorus 1
------------
B
But I won't hesi-
F#
tate no more, no
G#m
more, it cannot
E
wait I'm yours

Verse 2 (same pattern as before)
------------------------------
B
Well open up your mind and see like me
F#
open up your plans and damn you're free
G#m
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
B
listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
F#
We're just one big family
G#m
And it's our godforsaken right to be
E
loved loved loved loved
Db7
loved

Chorus 2 (Same as before, but now there's an extra set of lines)
-------------------
So, I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours

---> I think theres some sort of scatting here, and the chords here change every 2 counts, as opposed to 4 like previously. It goes:

B F# G#m F#
E Db7 (Hold these two for four counts, like normal) This part is played 2x

Scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear <-----------

Verse 3 (Same Chord Progression a Verse 1)
--------------------
I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue

Chorus 2 (second part is mixed in with Verse 4)
-------------
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more it cannot wait
I'm yours
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours

Verse 4
-------------
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you will find that the sky is yours

so please don't, please don't, please don't,
there's no need to complicate,
Cause our time is short
This, this, this is our fate,
I'm yours

I think it ends on Db7.

I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.

I think freedive was being totally sarcastic lol :wallbash:

Darn! :wallbash: All the work I meticulously put into writing that post! Oh well... it's there now for anyone who wants it. Maybe the ukulele freshman will want to play that song.

What's with the sarcasm though? Is it because the song is grossly overplayed on the ukulele?

(Actually, I think it's grossly overplayed in general)

Yep pure Saracasm....
Your right it is gross ly over played my GF loves it.
I heard it 4 times on the Radio yesterday then on SNL.

Now no work is wasted it let you get better at posting songs!!!!

If only I could get someone to put all that effort in to a song I really want to learn...like...

Mama's Mu'u Mu'u

This may be a dumb question since I'm probably one of the few who hasn't bothered to learn that song, but...
does Jason Mraz play the B F# G#m E chord shapes or is his ukulele tuned down a half step?

Ive actually never heard that song till I came here and youtubed it so find out what all you hip-people were talking about.

I do listen to the radio, not often, but the classic rock station and the "rock" station. (I prefer the bowels deep of all death metal - Necrophagist and Carcass to name some) So I guess its acceptable that I haven't heard this song.

Oh tell me about it! Almost everyone I run into (excluding the other uke players around campus) requests me to play that song.

Also: When the song comes on the radio, I always seem to feel obliged to play along, no matter what I'm doing (I usually carry my uke with me everywhere I go). The song always plays at the most unopportune times! Gah!

Oh yes, you're right! Thanks for the correction. I found that when I play it though, I go 2/4 then straight to the B chord. It makes it easier for me on the strumming.

---2/4----}-2---
---2/4---{--2---
----------}-3---
---------{--4---

Jason plays those actual chords, either guitar or uke. Look for the song and play along :)
