I'd like to start a thread for Hawaiian music. Traditional or modern or even if it's just about Hawaii in general (:

Here's one to start us out...

Of course I have to put this one on here. It's my own song about Hawaii and about how "Next Time" I'm comin' back Hawaiian!

"Next Time" I'm comin' back Hawaiian! - OK, I missed that one and I love it. That's a lot of fun.

I love Hawaiian ukulele music especially Daniel Ho, Iz, Jake, Dennis Kamakahi and Herb Ohta (both) but I tend not to play much. But here's a little Daniel Ho I did. I was lucky enough to meet him and do a workshop with him out her in Albuquerque and it was really cool.

I had such fun filming this one! Alas, I did not know much about how to get a good sound recording at the time. The sound is awful. I'm sometimes tempted to pull it and start over with better sound - I know so much more about getting good sound for my vids now. But it is what it is. Here's Joe McDermott's song "Come to Hawaii".

I'm glad you liked my little song. Did you know that you could enter your Pinapple Mango in the virtual song thread here http://playuke.net/overview It's great BTW. I'm working on it myself (:

Here's a song I wrote in Hawaiian, sort of a list song, along with a little slide show. Someday I'd like to do some Paniolo songs.

I have a couple for you!
Here is from Season 53, a wonderful song about the Moon and Stars on a beautiful night called Mahina O Hoku.

http://youtu.be/4TAC0PJFPyk
Most Hawaiian songs also have Kaona, or hidden meaning, and this song is really about love and longing.

This one is not from the Seasons, but is a Hawaiian song (with English lyrics) made popular by the Ka`au Crater Boys called Opihi Man.

http://youtu.be/AitxyynqWW4
An Opihi is like a limpet, it is a single-shelled mollusk that lives on the rocks at the surfline. Hawaiians eat them, they are quite tasty, but can be dangerous to get as you can get torn to ribbons by a powerful wave dragging you through the rocks. They are not as plentiful as they used to be, and since people usually pilfer all the easy-to-get ones, the only ones left are at the places that are especially dangerous to collect from.http://www.honolulumagazine.com/images/2011/Nov11/christianImages/opihi4.jpg

OK, what about a song written by a Hawaiian, and famously performed by Elvis Presley at the Honolulu Concert?
