If you have a KPK pineapple...

Would you mind posting a sound/video sample? Video isn't a must, but I'd really like to hear one. The only video I've found is this:

From the other KPK sizes I've heard (but admittedly haven't played), this pineapple makes no sense. Sounds off to me somehow and possibly out of tune. I'm wondering whether this is representative of the pineapple and guessing not, by the positive reviews here. Still, I'd appreciate a sound sample.

Sounds more like poor audio on the video to me. It sounds in tune more or less and nothing special.

As I said, it sounds that way to me, possibly not so to others.

It seems to me that the uke in that video that Phil has provided, is in fact a standard figure-8 shaped concert and not a Pineapple, so while still KPK, may not be the instrument peaceweaver is looking for...

I have found that there is a significant difference in sound between pineapple shape of any scale, when compared to other instruments of that same scale, regardless of being constructed of the same woods, and having similar bracing...

Also, in the linked video by Ukulele Sales in the original post, that uke sounds like the strings are still stretching and that it is just a hair detuned at least on the E string (going flat by about 10 cents), as well as significant and audible distortion on the C string, which is common when taking video on a smartphone or Flip camera from less than 4 ft away due to the 'automatic gain control' typically employed to provide better audio for voice frequencies.

Better quality of audio from such devices is definitely possible, you just need to be farther away from the camera in order to prevent distortion.

No worries - - it happens to each of us eventually! This new video you linked is great how it's all these ukes in one sitting, recorded with the same distance and equipment... and also thanks for reminding me about the rumored concert pineapple from KPK, seems like I have been hearing about this since Sept 2013 and cant wait to hear the eventual sound samples, so I too can decide if I want one or not....
