OK, folks, I've got to believe there are some of these floating around out there! I seem to recall an especially AWESOME one by fellow Seasonista Tina/austin1! I think she did it at the end of one of her entries for one one season, but I can't remember which season it was!

P.S. Of course, I am working on one of my own to share here very soon! :-)

OK, here's one showing the *hazards* of trying to record a song while your doggies (and their toys!) are in the same room with you! Forward to 1:17 or so to see what I mean!

This is terrific. I like the dawning realization and the thought that just maybe one little squeak wasn't too bad. And it is too bad because this was a great take except for the interruption.

Personally, I delete all versions of a song once one is posted to you tube so I don't have anything to post here but I'm sure some will come along in the future.

I have almost this same strategy, I only keep the "good" version of my video's. The bloopers get deleted (or I just leave them in). As I did have two video's that were up to my normal standard, but one contained the sound of my mail client and the other some bird sound from my twitter client ;). This is the one with the twitter sound (at 2:08) that did make me laugh but I did play on, so all was good:

I'm a hoarder. I have kept all my originals and the mixes I have made from them, though since getting a multi track recorder I tend more to record over failed versions. I doubt I would post the outtakes on here though for the reason Daveey gave. My use of language is not very original and I frequently utter a word beginning with S and ending in T

What I love and can identify with is the ratio of finished song to time taken "bloopering" ...What are we doing with our lives ????;)

..and would we have it any other way......? Well, more perfect first takes perhaps....but where would the fun in that come from?

Ya know... that was the most time I'd spent on video editing at that point and it was just to add in the mistakes. Irony. That' one reason I haven't done another blooper reel. I've had plenty of material (bloopers) on plenty of videos but it took so long just to add it all in I've elected to not do it again. And I'm a novice at video editing. The ratio of song vs out takes was a real statement on this song for me and that's why I did add the bloopers. It was a rough night.

I think most of my vids contain mistakes, I tend to leave them in 'cos the more I try to polish 'em up and practice the more heart and soul they lose.

I can go to a ukulele club and 60 people may be playing different chords and bum notes to the same song,it doesn't matter because its coming from the right place and its real music.............you won't get that same vibe where perfection is sought. (Just remember this when I'm hosting my season that its gonna be cool to crash) !! Lol

Yes, you totally hit the nail on the head, Alan! I was trying so hard to just "go with it" -- but, I couldn't keep a straight face in the end! ;-D Since this time, for the most part, I generally record on the other side of the house -- and close the door -- because my doggies like to bark at just about anything they see through the sliding glass doors! :-D I typically delete all of my bloopers, too, just because I don't have enough space on my iPad -- but, I definitely do have a little something from Season 104 -- just need to put the bloopers together. :-D

What I love about these blooper reels is that is shows us all another side of ourselves -- and even if it's the cursing side of ourselves (as UkuleleDaveey and Tootler later mention in this thread) when we make a mistake or mess something up -- it's all good because I can totally relate -- we're all human after all, right? ;-) You should hear the expletives that fly out of my mouth! ;-D Thanks for sharing this blooper, xommen! Hee hee hee!!! That is too funny! I guess it's kind of like what they say about the "singing in the shower" phenomenon -- and I do swear that I always think that I sound better singing in the shower! Guess maybe I ought to try out the playing the uke in the bathrobe technique, too! :-D Thanks for sharing, mythinformed! :-)

I would have never pictured you in this silly light, though as your videos are always so serious (in a good way!!!) -- and that's what I love so much about sharing these bloopers is that we can see that silly/funny (or in my case, sometimes the very irritated, ok, angry side of me -- e.g., think of The Incredible Hulk saying, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!)! ;-D Thanks for sharing this with us, Rex!

Sooooo true and well stated, mythinformed! I always feel that way -- as soon as I get into takes on my vids that are in the teens numbers (and far more than that!), I am not always "feelin' it," and I feel like my performance suffers as such.

Thanks, I use iMovie on my Mac('s), I'm not sure if the iPad version (Which you use if I'm not mistaking) has these kind of options. I "misused" various titlescreens to show the lyrics. And did some transitions that where part of a standard theme I think.

She did it a couple times :D The two she can think of off the top of her head are at the end of the Under the Sea video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_dsUSmm0GM) and at the end of the What Makes YOu beautiful/Back in Time mashup (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWULk7SFihQ)

Were you talking about one of those?

Crap do I miss the seasons. Good news: I have THIRTY-FIVE pages of my thesis. That's a lot of pages! Only approximately lots more to go! Better news: I will have a metric f$%&-ton of free time in Mongolia. And I'm bringing a uke and a video camera.

I ALWAYS have outtakes but never actually keep them. Perhaps I will include a few in future if I can manage to edit out or dub over the profanities. :-)

I am very efficient. I record my bloopers right into my finished videos for your listening pleasure. Two for the price of one - music and silly mistakes (and me laughing at them, usually).

This is the very first video FiL and I made as our duo, Uke Can 2! I had been playing uke for five weeks at the time. This is the world's easiest song - the verse is all on one chord - G, and the chorus throws in a brief C and D7 just for laughs. But somehow we just could not get all the way through it without one or both of us messing something up.

(Okay, to be fair, it is very wordy, and we attempted to do it from memory.)

Finally, on about take 57,003, we got a nice clean run ... and then, right at the end ... well, you'll see. We called it "It Takes 2000 Takes".

http://youtu.be/2DBWFRUPofA

As you'll hear in the video, FiL wanted to edit out the error. But I knew the blooper and our reaction to it was the most entertaining thing about the whole endeavor. And being the brilliant video editor he is (and "taking one for the team"), he knew a good thing when he heard it and kept it in.

Amazingly, our gracious host, Wallyboy, awarded us a prize for our maiden effort. I figure leaving the blooper in was the key to our victory. Cuz it sure wasn't my playing.

You should've just called it a Beatles ending! :) They liked that kinda trick (got on George Martin's nerves, though.)

Personally, I don't keep my bloopers, although I had a moment on Monday which was a kind of artificial blooper. I was plugging away at 'Heading For The Light', in honour of George Harrison's birthday, and somehow managed to convince myself I was getting the verses in the wrong order. I was so convinced of this by my fourth (and final) take that I listened to it back and wiped it. Then I checked the lyrics online. Spot on...

Sometimes, I'm an idiot.

If that's me you're talking to ... yeah, I told FiL at the time that we would always have to play the wrong chord at the end of that song from then on. Cuz it's funny. But he went back to ending on G.

If you like that sort of thing, well, this seems kind of appropriate to this thread in any case. (And since uke4ia Jim just pointed out to me that I have done two covers from this album, I was reminded of this one.)

Trying to play a song with a tricky chord progression for my first seasons vid in actual yonks was not too smart.

Trying to play it on the Dolphin, sillier still.

Hitting record on my second play-through? Downright daft.

Thankfully Nathan came up with a plan to stop the madness.
