I've got a Kala long neck soprano (KA-SLNG) and I'm noticing that most gig bags have an inside length of 21 inches. Mine is 22.5 inches.

Has anybody found a gig bag that will fit a long neck without having to use a concert sized bag?

Kurt

You might have to go 'concert-size', make your own, or get a tennis racket case :)

I like the idea of a long-neck soprano, but I haven't found one I like yet.

I may do more experimenting, although I've been stock-piling sopranos! :)

keep uke'in',

PS if you're willing to think outside the box, there are any number of non-traditional
'ukulele cases' or things that could become ukulele cases! :)

The canvas covered foam cases that Mike at Mainland offers fit perfectly. A little more expensive than a bag but much better in the long run. I've got my SSLNG in one right now.

an Ohana UB-21 fits it perfect...I got one with my KA-slng, might even sell it, I have bags out my ears!

The other day I was looking at a case which is intended for a bowl back mandolin. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was the right size for two Long Neck Soprano ukuleles. or a LNS and a standard uke.

Does anyone else know what a tiner box is? The same technique I use to make the box would make a good hard side case.

Thanks for the help! I will look at those cases.

My KA-SLNG fits in my regular soprano hardcase that I bought for a regular soprano, and I bought a regular soprano gigbag from HMS that it fits into just fine too. I thought it would need a special case, but it didn't.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but is this the one you bought? http://www.theukulelesite.com/accessories/cases/uke-crazy-gig-bags/uke-crazy-gig-bag.html

Is the SLNG actually 22.5"? According to the Kala website, it looks like the dimensions of the different soprano bags (UB-S, DUB-S, DUB-SK) are all 21" or 21.5": https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As-vcb1c9SOqdHVJb0RqazBwR09NeGpuekp6ZjZieFE#gid=0

I'm also looking for a gig bag for my Ohana long neck soprano. River_Driver recommended using a mando bag. I'll probably go that way after I find out if a friend of mine can make me a custom one first. She's a seamstress and she thinks she can make me one fairly easily and quickly.

Yes, that's the one. I carry my SLNG around in it all the time.

Interesting, when you get a chance, can you measure the length of the case? Maybe Kala's spreadsheet is wrong. Is the top of the uke very snug? Did you order the bag at the same time with the SLNG? Perhaps HMS gave you a concert-sized bag.

Thanks!
