I was looking for warm with some sparkle and this wood combo seemed to be the ticket. However, all the Kinnard sound samples were excellent.

Thanks! It took me months and countless emails to pick the combo. I am hoping this will become my main tenor.

It would appear that one of the secrets of the Kinnard sound is building 90 degrees from vertical.

This seems to be the case. The pics are right-side up when I get them and then spin 90 degrees when I attach them, go figure.

Looking good!

Wow, John sure does wear those magnifiers a lot. No wonder every detail is perfect.

Wow, John sure does wear those magnifiers a lot. No wonder every detail is perfect.

Actually, Hodge, I think I've figured out John's methodology. He actually arranges the molecules in such a way that the (valence?) bond that holds the atoms together is actually tightened. In order to move all the atoms closer, he needs his magnifying glasses. This technique accounts for the remarkable tightness in details. : )

David, that back figuring is wonderful. Love to watch this. Thanks.

I love to see a great instrument being built! A friend was having a classical guitar built by John Dick, and seeing his bracing system was a true pleasure. This Kinnard looks wonderful!

Might be the gorgeousest Kinnard yet!!

I was really aiming towards sound. I love the tone and volume of rosewood and cedar, so Kevin showed me a few sets. I got to pick the board and how it was cut. It is turning out better than I expected and I had pretty high expectations to start with.

I got the uke and have being playing it for a few weeks. What can I say?

It is perfection!

I'll post a proper review in a few weeks when my job calms down and a try a few sets of srtings. (HIHG-G AND lOW-g)

But believe me, Sound, Build, Sustain, Playability, Dynamics.... PERFECTION!

And I am picking as can be!
