traditional work song. American.

One I learnt from my Hero of heroes, Pete Seeger. This song first appeared on his mindblowing 1957 Folkways album, 'American Industrial Ballads'.

I remember one week in the winter time some years back, I sat down with my guitar and worked out how to play every darn song on that record, one by one, and gave the black plastic a hell of a time lifting and resetting the stylus constantly. Most of them I still play now, they have kind of etched themselves into my being and are just as relevant today. This song is dated at around 1926.

Chord progression for key of G (at least the way I play it) is:
G-------D-G
C--G--A7--D
G-------D-G

This arrangement played on my custom Black Bear macadamia soprano ukulele. Many thanks for watching friends. x

Another home run!
