View Full Version : Dropped my #1 player

I just dropped my Imua concert 'uke (stupid arthritis). Dinged the joint between the top and sides of the lower bout at about the halfway point between the bridge and the bottom. There does not seem to be any damage that affects the sound. The chips are each about 1/2 inch long and right at the angle of the joint.

What should I do to dress the rough edges of the chipped places?

How do I make sure it doesn't get any worse?

Is there any way to fix the chipped gloss finish to make it look good again?

Should I just leave it alone as proof that I really play?

I know you are gonna get some requests for pictures.....hard to diagnose without them.

I feel for you. I have dropped lots of stuff in my lifetime, I think I am a clumsy person. It's an awful feeling to drop something you love... :(

Doesn't look too bad. If it were mine, I'd take off the rough edges with a bit of sandpaper then touch up the bare wood with orange shellac. It will be a lot less noticeable.

There are also furniture touch up sticks in various colors. Any home improvement store should have them, I've even seen some at Vons.
