Anyone in Los Angeles area want to try on a swap of a KoAloha or Kamaka tenor for my Kanile'a K-1 T Deluxe? Gorgeous flamey butterscotch koa with rosewood fretboard and bridge. Gorgeous sound too, big deep and beautiful bell like tones with long sustain and volume. It is similar to a newer tenor I have which has the radiused fretboard and fat frets and slightly slimmer neck I prefer. I'm looking for one nice tenor to replace two, so that I have one linear tuned and one reentrant. The other Ks have the fatter frets. This uke with case should be worth a solid $1K+ cash or more in a straight trade since all the K's have posted drastic price increases to current high levels, new lists $1488 for the Deluxe on the Kanile'a website. I prefer darker koa and some nice figure in a swap, but similar color to this is good too.

I think that this should be basically swapping comparable tenors, and for someone looking for a deeper sound while I am looking for brighter.

Here's a tenor on eBay, not a Deluxe but a Premium so comparable.

I have met this uke in person and it is a very nice one! The geckos are just decals, by the way, if I remember correctly?

Thanks Lori for the kind words, I think you played it a couple months ago when I got the Pro Classic and shared. It was really nice to hear someone else with talent play it! ;) Yes the geckos are just very thin PET from Jockomo en eBay, they peel right off but I think the colors are really nice on the flamey gold koa. It's like my tattoos, I forget they are even there.

Oh thanks! The UV Gloss Finish Deluxe lists for $1,488. I edited the original post.

Well I went shopping and couldn't find anything that sounded half as nice as this uke in KoAlohas and Kamakas. I even matched it side by side to a Kamaka Ohta-san and was disappointed in the Kamaka which weighed a ton; very dense gorgeous koa but too thick, very muted. I did find a really nice Collings though. So I'm closing this thread, wondering what was I thinking? If anyone has a Collings concert for sale or trade please let me know.
