Are Fluorocarbon strings thinner?

I think I've noticed that the diameters of strings on some new fluorocarbon sets are thinner than the equivalent strings of nylon. Is this right? Or is it just variations of what different manufacturers think is the correct guage? The differences are only .001" or.002".

Am I the only one who noticed!

It's not your imagination - the florocarbon material is heavier, so a given string can be a thinner gauge than nylon.
