how to strum with a pick and not hit the body?

I usually use no pick, but I'm open to all strumming. when I use a pick, it always hits the body as I strum and sounds bad, how can I prevent this?

Not use a pick.

I don't play with a pick but my guess would be to either play more gently, or... kinda loosely curl your hand so your knuckles will hit before the pick...

Sometimes when my nails are TOO long that happens, thats why I suggest the curled hand

choke up on the pick.... hold the tips if your fingers closer to the end of the pick, so less area is sticking out to strike the strings
