I've decided to sell off a few things and find a vintage uke. Either a Kamaka or Martin soprano from the 50's/60's. Right now, I'm leaning toward a Martin Style 0. To me, that's just the look and, from what I hear on youtube videos, the sound I want. I've played guitar for years and always wanted a vintage guitar, but those are way more pricey than a uke.

Anyway, I want something loud and vintage. Preferably in the $500 range. Is that doable? Any advice? No plans on buying soon, just when the right one comes along after I save some dough.

Thanks!

you should easily be able to find a Martin style 0 for around the $500 range. I'd look for 30's vintage if possible.

Don't ignore a Ditson if you find one in your price range....just a Martin made for the Ditson Co. I recently got a Kamaka 70's White Label for an astonishingly low price...like new. Classic Kamaka "Bark" but it can't hold a candle to my pre-war Martin O.
