Has anyone purchased from dr. cluck on ebay?
If so, was the instrument set up well?
I've only purchased from MGM (and have been happy) ...but dr.cluck carries the Lanikai Solid Mahogany Tenor I think I want:

Mahogany has been described here as having a "warm mellow tone" which I'd like.
MGM has an Ohana Mahagony, but it's out of my $$$ range :(

... side question..... what's the tone of Spruce like? MGM has a Kala:

With the plus of getting it from MGM, and a brand I'm familiar with... oh, and cheaper.

Spruce is brighter and more classical-guitar-y.

It's nice for pickers, but for strummers, mahogany is a lot better.

At least, that's my opinion.

(Although I have a Lanikai 8-string sprucetop which is a great instrument for strumming-- but I think I like that better 'cause it's such a complex sound, 8 whole strings!)

I purchased my Lanikai LK-1s from Dr. Cluck. It was a factory second but I emailed them and they did a full inspection of the instrument and gave me a detailed description of the condition. I was very happy with the instrument, but they did not set it up in any way like MGM does.

I have also ordered strings from them which arrived two days after their purchase on ebay!

Never bought an instrument from them, but strings came super fast...
