I have an Ohana Vita, spruce top that is quite bright and projects like crazy... very happy with it.
I'd like to find something completely different in tone... something very warm. What kind of woods are known for their warm tone? Is there a trade off for warm tone and projection? Can you have both?
Can anyone can suggest a concert, around $200 with the following qualities:
- Concert size
- Warm tone
- Good Projection
- No friction tuners
- Gloss finish a plus, but not a deal-breaker.
- Pretty a big plus :)
Thanks!

Mainland cedar concert

Mahogany and cedar are both known for being on the warm side. They're a tiny bit over $200 but they have every feature you're looking for. Hope this helps!

Nice suggestions...thanks!
Anyone know how they are with setting-up their ukes? The last 2 ukes I've gotten were from MGM, so have been spoiled :shaka:

They're set-up in the USA before they're shipped out, and you even get your choice of tuners. I've heard nothing but good things about the customer service and playability right out of the box.

String choice will also play a big role in the ultimate sound as well. Worth Browns and Ko'alau Golds would be a step in the right direction for your other uke.

Very good point, strings can make a huge difference in the sound.
