The new Maestro serie is really fascinating http://www.maestroguitars.com/product_type/island-series/
I was looking for a special ukulele , concert size, and I've found it in my new Maestro Solid Acacia (UC-K). All solid, top, back and sides.
It looks precious, the luthiers gives attention to lot of details and features: Soundport, a special bracing system,
the freatboard is inlayed in the neck, and a beautiful inlayed turtle is in the ebony freatboard, a feature that I've never seen in a serial built instrument. Position dots over the 5th and 7th fret (could be more!). It joins the body over the 12th fret (I like that!)

The workmanship is perfect and the sound is loud, bright and clear.
The price range is, I would say, asian like! ( I payed 599 Euros in Germany for it, looks like they are more expensive in the USA http://www.antonioviolin.com/ukuleles/maestro-ukuleles )

That looks absolutely stunning! I'm glad it sounds nice too.

Nice looking uke. Change out those Aquila strings, which is the least thing that I like about my two Maestros (cocobolo/cedar and macassar ebony/spruce) from their Custom series. Maestro ukes are great option for getting that custom look/wood combo without breaking the piggy bank. Check them out if you have a dealer nearby.

Thank you, good idea, I will try out fluorcarbon strings. The set up is good for me, action over the 12th fret is 2.6mm (0.1), I don't know if out from the factory.

Nice looking Ukuleles. Web site looks great! How do they sound? The USA dealer seems to be pretty high in price. When I do a Euro to CND$ conversion price seems good but not on USA site. I must admit , I passed on reading thread as the name conjured up images of the cheap, drug store brand guitars, Gibson imports into Canada with same name and those guitars are total junk. These look very good. Are there any sound samples available?

I've looked at them in the past but was turned-off by their high price.
What you paid seems reasonable, but USA pricing is crazy :(

Hi guys,

I'm really sorry I totally spazzed out and deleted the soundclips of the last lot of island series we had. Some new ones are coming soon so I'll do some recordings for you guys.

Here is my soundsample : https://soundcloud.com/annettem-2/klangprobe-maestro
(It is strung now with worth brown, sounds and looks better)

The USA dealer seems to be pretty high in price.

I think that is not the aim of the factory.
There is an interview on "Uklelehunt": http://ukulelehunt.com/2010/11/10/maestro-ukuleles-meet-your-maker/

What separates Maestro from other ukuleles?

The main selling point for our ukuleles would be boutique class ukuleles which do not cost a bomb and everyone can afford to own a good old handcrafted traditional quality ukulele. We like to use raw materials which had been proven on guitars to build ukuleles and we focus a great deal of our energy on the timbre quality of our instruments. We also employ good old technology like a tight dove-tail joint for our ukuleles , ....
