I always default to Blue Roses Falling when I warm up or test a instrument, but lately I have been on L.R. Lulu's back in town kick.

I can't seem to get sick of playing Gently Weeps since learning it a year and a half ago. Lately I've been playing Thriller a lot, trying to get better at it.

It changes all the time. I usually like the songs that I'm currently learning. Right now that would be Gitara and Michelle Branch's "Goodbye to You". Quite a difference there - one is so sweet and the other is so depressing. lol

Paul, I like Everyday is Like Sunday too!

02-08-2009, 10:06 AM
just learned most of Dominators tab for Guava Jam.......can't seem to play anything else, that song is stuck in my head! thanks Dom

02-08-2009, 10:34 AM
I usually pick up my uke and the first thing that comes out is the chords to Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground just because I like the progression.

Then I do my "Tom Petty covers...". I play a few songs and sing them in a very exaggerated Tom Petty voice. Favorite to do right now are "Freebird".

sexual healing because the tune is just soo perfect. And it sounds great with different crazy strumming patterns. It's easy when I'm bored.

There's "First Day of My Life", that's easy too. I find myself making up songs to that tune. Just saying whatever comes to my head.

Blessed Be Your Name

Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" based on Ohta-san's chords in his Beloff book. Just gorgeous chords. It just follows me around...

And stripping down "You Shook Me All Night Long" and trying to classy it up a bit. It's a lot of fun to play and sounds like it has potential for the Orchestra.

"I Will Survive" one progression that builds and builds and is well within my vocal range...

Right now it's "Land Down Under - Men at Work", "This Message - Krabbers", and I'm working on "Viva la Vida - Coldplay".

06-29-2009, 03:06 PM
When in doubt, Build Me Up Buttercup, the Jim Beloff arrangement, because I've got it down memorized.

Sweet Child o' Mine by Guns and Roses, because I'm learning it from this tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCbhKU7e8ZQ)

and if there are people around, especially people who think a ukulele is funny, I break out the Stairway to Heaven. It surprises and delights.

06-29-2009, 03:40 PM
Ellis Paul - The World Ain't Slowin' Down

06-29-2009, 03:54 PM
I always seem to come back to something by Kevn Kinney. Lost And Found and Kinda Like You are great songs to play on a uke.

06-29-2009, 08:32 PM
Bob Marley - I Shot The Sheriff .. but basically it's the newest song I know.

06-29-2009, 08:38 PM
Elephant Town-chord and lyrics are easy. Plus it's kinda catchy:music:

Right now my favorite song is "I Wanna Be Like You." It's easy to play and it gets my eight month old son dancing.

Also "Five Foot Two" is one I tend to play a lot.

Current favorite "Elephant Town". :nana:

06-30-2009, 10:18 AM
All newbie songs here but inevitably I circle back to Creep, Ring of Fire or Wish You Were Here. Easy chords, easily recognized and fairly easy to sing (when I can remember the words!).

06-30-2009, 10:34 AM
I've got two! "Tom Cruise Crazy" by Jonathan Coulton and "I will follow you into the dark" by Death Cab For Cutie! They are nice to play! :)
