I bought this Martin Type 0 ukulele on ebay. Tom Walsh at the Ukulele Hall of Fame told me that based on the shape of the tuners he would date it between 1952 and 1962.That was before I got it.When I got it I noticed it had bar frets. From what have read on line,in The History Of Martin Ukuleles "Bar frets were generally used until 1934, afterwhich they used T-frets." Did Martin still put bar frets on Type 0 ukuleles in the 50's and 60's? Just curious.

Check with Dick Boak at Martin. He is in charge of their consumer relations in Martin's ukulele program. He could find out exactly when the uke was made.

Wow,Thanks alot!I will do that.

Are you certain those are bar frets? Kind of hard for me to tell in your pictures but they kinda do look like T frets. Those tuners (I saw in your other thread) are definitely Martin 1950's+ style.

If it really does have bar frets, maybe those aren't the original tuners? They could have been replacements installed during the 50-60's!
