Hi evereyone,

I love Alohis high g version. I want to try the low g ones. I see in koolau's website that there are two options, wound g and wound g c. Which one is better for you? I can see the c string is fatter than the g and is made of aluminium instead of silver. Could you get a nice balance with these gauges and wound materials? Thanks a lot.

But pity bump bump.

Wound C often needed to balance out the tone when using a wound G.

Tenor 4-String -
Wound 3rd and 4th:
4th G – .032 Silver Wound
3rd C – .036 Aluminum Wound
2nd E – .033 Plain Monofilament
1st A – .029 Plain Monofilament

Is it ok to use a C string wider than low G?

Yes. Your nut is probably cut with a wider slot on the C string for reentrant. So this is just fine.
