Song Help Request I'm Yours - Jason Mraz Strumming help

Hello All,
I know theres been plenty of questions regarding this song, but I couldn't find the correct answer. According to the iamhawaii lesson the strum pattern is up, down (small accent), up, down (big accent). Now the question, I'm not sure where the mute comes in, is it?

up, [MUTED] down (small accent), [MUTED] up, [MUTED] down (big accent)
or
up, [MUTED] down (small accent), up, [MUTED] down (big accent)

i pinky mute every strum apart from the down (big accent) so you only here that strum

Thanks, I'll try that out. I was a little bit confused because the video said to release the mute on every up strum, but it didn't sound right when I did that.

i pluck the c string before every chord when i play
