I have two vintage banjo ukes that have recently been worked on by a fine luthier here in Portland, Or. They are:

1) a May Bell: It is in very good condition, certainly for its age. You can see some dimpling on the headstock, and I think the resonator isn't totally straight. The nut should be filed down and the tuners can either be lived-with or replaced. I'm not a fan of vintage tuners which can slip and these do at times. $300

2) This is a bit of a mystery, but it is either a Harmony or Lange. I love the pearloid headstock and fretboard. It doesn't have any issues that I know of, except the tuners are the tuners. The head tensioners aren't all centered in the holes on the resonator, but that was the way it was manufactured. Comes with the original case. Sound is good for what probably wasn't an expensive banjo uke. The May Bell is crisper. $275

just posted the harmony/lange on ebay, so I'll close the thread (although the may bell is still for sale).
