Can anyone point me to their preferred supplier in England?

I'm going to dress the frets on my Ibanez, but I don't have a crowning file any more.

Alternatively, has anyone got a reasonably foolproof method of tapping high frets back down? There are really only a couple of high frets (I think there's been some movement over the years due to environmental changes, as the neck binding has a hairline vertical crack at every fret end), so I might try tapping them back down gently.

I used to do it a long time ago with the "wrong" end of a copper drift.

Why don't you use a flat fine cut file to recrown? Takes about 30 seconds per fret, around 20 seconds longer than a dedicated fret recrowning file. You'll lose all of 3 or 4 minutes in total. If you buy the Gurian file you'll actually save 20 minutes!!

Cheers lads. I might have a trip down to B&Q and see if they have anything that might do the job before I spend a load of cash on something I'll probably use twice in my lifetime. I used to do this on an almost daily basis at Carlsbro, but they weren't my tools.

+1 on David Dyke, plus he is a really good guy to call up and have a chat with!
