ok so I ordered a reentrant g baritone
string set my question is do I tune the d note
to another pitch reference or can I keep
using my guitar tuner. I hate having to use a
chromatic tuner every time I use it my uke is
always off. I'm just not sure if the thickness
of the string changes the pitch or if you need
to physically tune the pitch lower or higher ex:
drop d on a guitar to make the d string a low
d. any help would be nice I'm new to new tunings
on my ukes.

Not sure I understand the question. What kind of guitar tuner are you using? And why would your uke be off using a chromatic tuner? To answer your question, the top three strings you can tune however you're tuning the low D baritones. I imagine you can tune the high 'd' string the same, it's just an octave higher than the other baris. Or you can think of it as being one step lower than the high 'e' string - or it's the exact same pitch as 3rd fret 'B' string.

in other words I have a hard time
using a chromatic tuner it never sounds
in tune when I use it. I have a uke tuner
with ukulele c tuning , guitar and chromatic
I use the guitar setting and tune my baritone.
what I'm asking is is the thinner string
what's making the higher note or am I actually
tuning a pitch higher than the low d note
? aka will the d reference on my tuner work
or will it be to low ? I never did much alt tunings
like this so I never had to think about it
sorry if it doesn't make sense I don't know
how else to explain it

I get it I'll tune the b note
than tune the d to that I see what
your saying I always used to tune my ukes
by fret placement by tuning the c to a keyboard
c note and the rest from that I'll go that route rather
than the tuner ( I'm also new at using these
never used one until last year )
