I'd like to leave this short review of my Lanikai LFM-S soprano ukulele.

First of all, the instrument itself is beautiful. It is gloss finished, with a solid spruce top, a lovely flame maple back, and an ebony fret board. Since I had to buy it Online (activemusician.com), I wasn't sure what to expect, but I've been very happy with it. Since I've been playing it, I've had very little trouble with it staying in tune. I know everyone has their preference with ukuleles, but I really love this one.

Thanks for the review!

I hate to admit so, but visuals do count!

I don’t own any flamed maple instruments, but I certainly have seen some beautiful patterns documented on photos.

One matter still puzzles me, as no dealer ever bothered about answering:

Do flamed maple instruments come in solid wood?

Or do the biological processes behind the flaming invariably make veneering mandatory?
