In Oz at the moment we have a nightly live entertainment-comedy show on tv called 'The Full Brazilian' to correspond with each day of the world cup.
The "house band" is a three piece: bass, percussion and UKULELE. Yep, we got ukulele every night on tv for a month. Perfect.
awesome, what style music do they usually play kind of like latin jazz with uke?

Yes, but I do have the re-entrant top string. I came from banjo which also uses DGBD tuning, or rather gDGBD. Remember that first Honolulu newspaper report on the Portuguese instruments mentions their tuning as being banjo-like.

If I could have gotten my Mele soprano to sound like this one, you'd have had to pry it from my cold dead fingers to get it away from me. As it is, I traded it.
