When a uke is reentrant tuned, how do you approach a song that has notes below the low C?

If it's just a "tune", then the procedure called "folding", where the low note is played an octave higher, often works well. If it's a song with a singer then the only real option is to transpose the tune to a higher key, else play the existing tune a whole octave higher on the ukulele.

The simplest solution is just to transpose the whole piece up (or down) an octave. If you must shift octaves midstream, try to choose by phrase or section rather than just transpose the couple offending pitches.

Sometimes you can also transpose by the difference between the original source and the uke, as you might take a piece written for guitar and transpose it up a fourth for ukulele C tuning. "Lute to Uke" for one takes that approach.

The most successful approach I've taken to interpret a song that MUST include a pitch below C has been to transpose the song so the new lowest note is C.

That's why on the 8th day, low g was created.
