This song about the absence of a loved one was featured on the soundtrack of the brilliant war movie Underground, from 1995 by Emir Kusturica. The song was sung by Cesaria Evora from Cape Verde.

Saskia and I have recorded it to pay some sort of tribute to the almost 200 fellow Dutchmen whom died in the crash of Malaysia Airlines in Eastern Ukraine.

We, that is gorgeous. So subtle. Your wife sings sweetly. I don't understand the language, but picked up a little with my skilled ear as she sung--something about Malaysia and aeroplanes and ascending into skies (the song title) and vanishing, I think. Meaningful. Sad.

Picked up your uke, since you were at some distance, sound hole away from mic.

thanks! I have a mic for the uke, but it's just out of the frame. But I must say that these lage diaphragm condensor mics pick up an awful lot of sound. Love them for home recording.
