What does it mean for a ukulele to be worksop set-up? I am a beginner buying my first ukulele. should I buy one that has been workshop set-up or does it make no big difference?
Thank you, John

"Set-up" is a generic term for adjusting various parts of the instrument for better/optimum performance. One of the best descriptions of a shop set-up is at http://elderly.com/repair/setups.html

Think of it like the work a new car dealer does to a car after receiving the car from the factory and prior to delivery to the customer. Stringed instruments are finicky critters and most need some "taming".

Once in a while, a retailer may use this expression to describe a factory shop setup..........which they all get. Some are good, some not. Most, if not all, could benefit from a custom setup by a qualified instrument tech or other professional who knows how.
