Don't Take Me Alive (Steely Dan)

I've never done a video of a Steely Dan song before. I have a couple books of their sheet music, but I always work out an arrangement for a song, and then remember that I can't sing anywhere near as high as Donald Fagen. And I can't bring myself to re-learn the entire arrangement in a lower key.

I had just a few hours to work on this Sunday for the ending Season of the Ukulele, so of course I completely forgot to lower the key before memorizing the arrangement. When I turned on the camera, I immediately messed up my voice trying to sing way too high. So I tuned the Fluke down from C tuning to A and tried again, using what was left of my voice. I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

Wow, that was so awesome. I've never heard Steely Dan on the uke. You rocked it brother.

Thanks, Mike. I just remembered that I did previously do a Steely Dan song a while back, a quick version of The Fez. I'd completely forgotten.

I heard FM by SD on XM today and thought of you for those string bends in that song, Jim.
