Yes, I went to the local Good Will store and found a vintage Martin in excellent condition, almost like new. I didn't even try to haggle. $3.99 American was fine with me.
I'll post photos soon.

...$12.... I'll even pay the shipping...

If it's a uke guitar or mando, I'm going to be so jealous. Whenever we hit flea markets or antique stores, my mantra is Martin, Kamaka, Martin, Kamaka... Haven't found either yet, but did find good deals on a Harmony Bari and a Trehollipee so I guess I can't be too jealous.

No, yes I can!

Best I ever did was an old cast iron frying pan...has a nice ping, though...

Best I ever did at Good Will was a Harmony.

And even then, you likely paid $4.99 for it. Ouch!

Awesome find. I go to Goodwill at least once a week looking for burried treasures. The best I have done was a pair of vintage Klipsch speakers that I paid $10 bucks for. Ended up selling that pair to a audiophile for $500 for the pair (which what I understood was also a steal for the pair also).

Little joke destroyed by UU's broken photo uploader. Sorry everyone. I didn't plan all this.

Attaching photos hasn't worked for a few days now. However, if you have the photo hosted elsewhere (Flickr, photobucket, etc.) you can link to it here and it will work.

I have a couple of photos and am unable to upload them here. A UU glitch? Help!

Steve, I use photobucket.com to store pics, then copy/paste the pic's URL into the UU pic insert popup.

You guys remember the ethics thread about buying ukes for good deals and whether or not it was right?

I'm digging this thread.

I think there is meant to be a 'Doc' before the Martin. Still, with one shoe you can look half cool I guess !

Nice shirt! It IS a vintage Martin at a great price. And you got me to stop at the local Goodwill store...

1944 Vogilansperlie balalaika brought back by a vet from Germany in 1945, at a garage sale for $20.00. The back staves are highly figured maple and cherry. Zero fret. A similar new one is $900 range. With the addition of a fourth tuner PEGHEDS on a slant, it makes a wonderful uke-alaika. There are genuine scores yet out there to be attained...such as my 1929 Claro walnut Dobro resonator mandolin in the original case appraised to sell for 7 to10 thousand in USA, and double that in an Asian market.......for $275.00 . It is an awesome experience. It is possible to both laugh and cry at the same time. Good on ya', mate!!

Durn, but then again, it takes the pressure off of me for not finding a treasure out there of my own.... Nice shirt.

I bought my old Rayban Wayfarers for 50p about 80c US. Cool with my really cheap Uke.

Good thing it wasn't a vintage Martin uke, or the morality police would've come out in force.
