Custom Engraved Soprano Ukulele - Ocean and Beach theme

This is a custom freehand engraved soprano ukulele.

The engraving is done by Sydney-based artist Eli Evangelidis. My brief to Eli was for an "Ocean and Beach" themed engraving, being that I have lived all my life in Manly. Eli's engraving portrays this theme beautifully in my opinion, with the iconic Norfolk Pines my favourite imagery.

As for the uke, it's an entry level laminate soprano. The interesting thing with the engraving work was I had Eli experiment with different quality ukes from cheap laminates to solid acacia wood and our findings were that the cheap laminates are not only easier to engrave, but the end result is much more pronounced due to the different grain and colour of the plywood showing through better after engraving.
