In one of the recent podcasts (or maybe it was an old one) I heard Aldrine say that nylon strings go well with friction tuners (and/or vice versa) due to the amount of stretch being > FCs. I just happened to put clear nylons on my friction-tunered Opio a couple of weeks ago and really like it. Does anyone know which podcast the comment was made and about where? I think it was within the last week or so. I'd like to revisit... thanks!

It's a brand new year and a brand new Ukulele Play-Along & lesson! This time it's John Denver's classic, "Take Me Home Country Roads", ukulele style. This one is a fairly simple song in the Key of A. It's a great excuse to practice your E chord, if you've been working on that. And if you want to skip it, you can always use the E7 chord whenever the E shows up in the song. UU co-founder Aldrine Guerrero also demonstrates a simple picking intro, if you would like to add that to your skill set. Take it as easy or as in-depth as you want! Try playing along with "Take Me Home Country Roads" using the on-screen lyrics, chords, and picking animation. And for the rest of the instruction, including tips on strums, advanced picking, and...
We don't want you to have a Blue Christmas without UU, so we're offering up a fun fingerstyle song for you to learn! Originally recorded by Doye O'Dell in 1948, Elvis version wouldn't be heard until his 1967 Christmas EP. What started off as a Country Holiday Staple, Elvis' rendition became known for the additional "Blues" note that gives it it's more classic rock-and-roll feel. Elvis himself is quoted as saying that this is his Favorite Christmas song of the one's he's recorded. Ed note: This playalong is for the instrumental version tutorial, part of UU+, so you'll need to subscribe (or take advantage of the free trial offer!) to get the tabs and instruction video with multiple angles. Please also note that it's only the...

From the tutorial description: If you've visited Hawaii or grew up in Hawaii, chances are you have probably heard a version of this song. Originally a chant, No Ke Ano Ahiahi retells King Lunalilo's (Hawaii's sixth Monarch), visit to America. It is akin to an old sea chanty with instructions to raise the anchor and set sail. Many of Hawaii's musician's have covered this song, but the two that we grew up with were the versions by the Ka`au Crater Boys and the Hawaiian Style Band. During their Hot Hawaiian Nights Performance, the Ka`au Crater Boys brought up Sistah Robi from the Hawaiian Style Band to make an awesome mashup of both versions. Another notable version is the one by the Sons of Hawaii where they sing all the verses. (Lyrics...
