Hey UUers! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is online: Uke Minutes 91 - Added Octave Chord Inversions This one helps out a lot when you need to stay on a single chord, but you don't want it to get too monotonous - putting in these pinky-additions adds a little color and movement to your chords. You can figure out the added octaves for other chord shapes as well: If you know the notes that make up your chord, just find the closest note up on the A string and put your pinky there. For example - Your D chord is made up of the notes: D, F#, and A For the regular D chord, G string 2nd fret = A note C string 2nd fret = D note E string 2nd fret = F# note A string 0 fret = A note The next closest note on the A string that falls...
I would just like to say how exciting yet slightly humiliating it is to enter the ukulele underground site and see your own goofy face under the title MVOW. hahaha. I was laughing soooo hard. Really? Remix to Ignition? MVOW? I'm totally honored! and... inspired to never run my hands through my fro ever again hahaha. Just kidding :) you know I can't help thuggin it out THANKSSSSS! Has anyone else who has been MVOW have a similar reaction?

Here it is - a discussion for Uke Minutes 88! Uke Minutes 88 - Hammer-Pull Exercise This one should help with those quick hammer-pull combos on ukulele solos! Questions, comments, suggestions, other helpful hammer-pull positions, petitions to make the "hammer-pull" and Olympic event?? Post them all below!
I can't find the assigment for week three, 10 cords to down load.
Hey UUers! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is online! - Uke Minutes 86 - 3-String Strum This one is especially helpful when moving chord shapes that only use the C, E, and A strings around on your fretboard. Some of these shapes include the G, Em, and Gm chord shapes. An alternative to this method would be to place a free finger lightly on the G string to mute it, that way the open G doesn't ring out. Questions, comments, thoughts, ideas, other alternatives to the 3-String Strum that don't involve crazy amounts of strumming accuracy?? Post them below!
Hey UU peeps! This week's (extra-informative) episode of Uke Minutes is now up and running - Uke Minutes 69 - How to Install an Ukulele Pickup More specifically, how to install a Mi-Si Acoustic Trio pickup in a Kanile'a Ukulele. Hosted and taught by uke-builder extraordinaire (and owner of Kanile'a Ukulele), Joe Souza! So you know you're getting some quality schoolin' right there. This one was a little on the longish side for an ep of Uke Minutes ... let us know if it was worth it! Got questions, comments, tips, personal stories about installing pickups, Christmas Kanile'a wishes? Post them all below!
Hey UUers! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is now online! Uke Minutes 85 - Strum-to-Fingerpicking This is a great way to practice switching from strumming to fingerpicking and getting that transition really smooth. Try it out and let us know what you think! Questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, opinions on the helpfulness of Guitar Hero/Rockband-ish on-screen graphics? Post them all below!

Hey UUers! This week's ep. of Uke Minutes - ENGAGE! Uke Minutes 84 - Flamenco Warm Up I This one is pretty simple, and a quick way to warm up those fingers! Questions, comments, thoughts, Flamenco wishes, home remedies for repelling mosquitoes? Post them all below!!
Quick question to the UU crew... I noticed since you switched to hawaiistream.com, the live lessons are no longer recorded, is that right? Or am I just missing the recorded video? I would really be bummed if the live lessons will no longer be accessible unless you can attend them live!
Well, this is my third Ukulele video since i got into playing the uke about three or four weeks ago, and it is nothing if not a testament to Aldrine's ability to teach. I discovered his tetris video lesson oh about 48 hours ago and he is such a great teacher i have already been able to hammer out my own little version of. I know it isnt perfect but like i said its only been about two days or so. But i have been practicing it non stop. So much so that my thumb started to blister. As you can see in the video i had to tape it off so i could keep playing (im not addicted to the uke). Anyways try not to be too harsh it is like three in the morning. I did my best . This one's for you Aldrine. I'm sure i have much more to learn from...
Hey UUers! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is online: Uke Minutes 82 - Flamenco Finger Picking I Pretty simple concept, but the trick is (like everything else) you need to practice it to get it down. Questions, comments, suggestions, song recommendations to use this technique on, speculation as to what flamenco technique Aldrine will teach next?? Post them all below!
Hey UUers! This month's episode of Uke Lessons is here (to save the day!): Uke Lesson 28 - All Star This one is a little weird because Aldrine teaches it in standard tuning (G,C,E,A), but awkwardly forces you to tune a half step down (F#,B,D#,G#) for the Play-Along. Sorry about that. But tuning aside, it's a pretty simple and straightforward lesson of a song that is as infectious as it is poppy. We can only pray that no one ends up like this poor child (http://tinyurl.com/y9vws2m) just because of us :p Got a question, comment, suggestion, tip, humorous personal story involving Smash Mouth, tips for Aldrine on how to grow a real beard?? Post them all below!!
Hey UUers! January's episode of Uke Lessons is here: Uke Lesson 25 - Change The World I know a lot of you aren't big fans of the E chord, but if you ever needed a reason to learn it well, this song might just be it! Keep in mind that Aldrine's chord fingerings aren't the only way to hold each chord, so experiment with what feels most comfortable for you to hold and change chords with. This song has quick changes, so if you're getting hung up on any particular chord change, practice the changing movement over and over again and soon your muscles will move from one chord to the next automatically! If you have any other questions, comments, ideas, suggestions, praise for Eric Clapton (or tsud123), thoughts about the ukulele's greater...

Hey people of the Underground! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is here! Uke Minutes 40 - First Beat C String We actually covered the fingerpicking version of this in Uke Minutes 35, but thought we might expand it to include strumming, as well. As a rule of thumb, the C String Bass generally sounds good on beat one, but feel free to explore other variations including timing, placement, number of times, etc. Suggestions, thoughts, questions, conspiracy theories? Post them below!
