I'm not sure if this is the right board for this....if not, mods please feel free to move it! It's been a long time coming, but I've finally gotten access to video hardware (welcome to the new millenium, mailman!) ;) I found a real good sale on laptop computers this week, and bit the bullet and bought not one, but two! This is a good thing, as now the wife and I don't need to share a computer and compete for online time. Also, I get the webcam that comes with the new laptop. But, this is a bad thing , too, because I just spent a big chunk of discretionary funds....which really put the hurtin' on my UAS. I've never had a laptop before, but I'm loving it so far (after two hours). There's a huge learning curve involved, so I don't...
hey you guys -- if you haven't checked out misohappy's video, please do. it's her first video. she did a wonderful job. congrats, miso!
Hey peeps! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is up and running! Uke Minutes 31 - Harmony (3rds) This is a very basic introduction to harmony and we admit, we had a tough time trying to explain this in terms that made sense to us, so if you have any questions at all, please, please ask them! We'll try to clear this all up as best as we can. Questions? Comments? Additional things we probably should have included but missed? Post them below! Thanks a lot guys!
is there any way to see aldrine's lesson from yesterday (d'yer maker)?
Hey UUers - in all the craziness of the UU Tour 2009, I didn't get around to putting up the thread on this until now! Uke Minutes 63 - Left Hand Mute Use it in conjunction with or as a substitute for the Pinky Mute technique when you want to create quick, staccato strums (like the ones you find in reggae music). Try it out and if you have any questions, comments, queries, alternate ways to left hand mute, or sweet songs that you can use this technique on - post them below!
Hi, I'm wondering how you make your videos. How do you record the tracks (audio and video). What programs do you use to edit the footage and audio? What program do you use to add the affects like the chords illustration? Thanks=)
Hey everyone! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is here! Hey UUers! Episode 50! Featuring an $8 multiple-ukulele wall hanger, Aldrine using power tools, and the tiniest screwdriver known to man. Uke Minutes 50 - DIY Ukulele Wall Hanger We know that there are tons of people on this forum who have mad skills when it comes to woodworking, so I'm sure we will see some awesome, much better versions of this wall hanger. But for those of you who are less than handy (like Aldrine), was this lesson helpful? clear? easy-to-follow? at all interesting? Post your comments, complaints, DIY wall hanger pics, cheap studfinder alternatives, and/or words of encouragement below!
Hey UUers! This time on Uke Minutes, Muted Ghost Notes (which aren't really anything like regular ghost notes) - check it out: Uke Minutes 61 - Muted Ghost Notes Plus more good news about the UU Tour in the post! Saw a video the other day here of a young man playing Little Wing. Before he started playing, he was thanking different people for giving him a wooden plaque for some award. I thought it was video of the week, but it wasn't. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks
Hey people! Billie Jean is live and online - Check it out here, if you haven't had the chance yet. Also, here is Aldrine's full version of the song on YT, just in case you'd like to play along. Aldrine was supposed to put together a chord sheet for all y'all sometime ... but I don't think he's gotten around to it yet. I found a somewhat shoddy one here. And lyrics here. Questions? Comments? Criticism? We'll take them all - post below, and have your way with it!
Just a comment on using picks. Aldrine mentioned in the video in response to the question on using aluminum picks, "try using plastic picks, they should be the same right?" Having played guitar with a pick for many years I can say from experience that aluminum picks do not feel anything like plastic picks. I have played using nylon picks, delrin picks, ultex picks, metal picks, etc. of various thicknesses, shapes and sizes and the size, shape, thickness, etc. of a pick can make a huge difference in how they feel to the person as well as the sound that is made when it hits the strings.
Hey people of the Underground! September's lesson is now playing at your local UU front page - click and see: Uke Lesson 21 - Fallin' For You This one's a pretty quick lesson - simple, to the point, and catchy as heck. Don't blame us if the song gets stuck in your head for the next day or three. Questions, comments, suggestions, inspiring anecdotes about playing video games at the beach? Maybe you figured out the insanely easy (in relative comparison to what Aldrine showed) alternate fingering for the picking. Share all of your thoughts below!
Alright UUers! You guys asked for it, so we delivered! Uke Lesson 19 - Out of My League This one is actually a little advanced, so be sure to take your time, learn each part, rewatch as necessary, and practice, practice, practice! And if you have questions (or comments, or tabs that you put together to share with everyone, or wonderful recipes involving chicken) post them below! Thanks everybody, Happy July!
