Feel free to do whatever you like. But, here's what I do.
At bar 12 the little squiggle going upwards means bend the note up. That's what I do when I am playing it.
At 17 onwards you should really dampen all the notes on the rest, but that's not what I actually do. I actually dampen the fretted notes by lifting my fingers. But I let the open E ring on all through the passage. I think it sounds quite effective that way.
