    Kamaka Price Increase

Hard to say in the short term. I just sold a Kamaka to a very nice buyer and I'd say that the market forces in the used market are about what they usually are. If inflation is here to stay, then some time will pass before folks commit to paying more than they would have in the past. Right now...

    Kamaka Price Increase

I'm also noticing that prices of the latest batch of Ponos with the lattice bracing are more - same sizes and woods - compared to previous (lattice and non-lattice) iterations. Is the new pricing structure a result of increased materials costs or a repositioning within the market to compete with...

    Kamaka Slothead Tenor - HF-3 I

I’m not entirely sure. I just understand that there’s something additional that’s done to make the sound board vibrate more. The above said, I finally got a chance to listen to the sound sample. Corey says that apart from the headstock, the rest of the uke is the same as the standard HF-3 tenor.

    Kamaka Slothead Tenor - HF-3 I

Interesting. I suppose it appeals to the player that wants sort of a “sleeper” ukulele? Does Kamaka also work further the edges of the soundboard to vibrate more, as it has done on some of its deluxe models?

    Please, somebody buy this

I like the idea of maximizing the surface area of the soundboard to generate tone. In this case it's the entire soundboard. Hard to top that!

Biggest obstacle you overcame playing ukulele?

My biggest obstacle was just getting started. I played piano for many years and thought that picking up another instrument was going to be as involving to get started. Had I known how refreshingly straightforward was going to be the ukulele, I would have picked it up long ago!

ukulele's tone will "open up" with age?

Haha yes indeed. Glad you hung onto the guitar long enough to hear the difference! For the reason originally stated, I hung onto a spruce solid topped (laminate b/s) Seagull for 25+ years thinking it was going to sound better one day. Well... turns out nope, it did not! To be honest, the guitar...

    Please, somebody buy this

My favorite sounding is the cypress one. What is the tonal quality of cypress? Looks and sounds a little like spruce? The wood on all of them is absolutely stunning!

Empty cases - fill them or sell them?

I recently sold a case. Reason? If you’re going to fantasize about getting another ukulele, then why limit your imagination to what’s going fit inside of there?
