    Season 580 "69 & 70"

This is an old song that I've never posted in the Seasons before. It's from my first songwriting phase back in the 80s when I was in my mid-20s. Back then I would have been accompanying myself somehow with a little Casio electronic keyboard. So I tried to reach the golden key But it was...

    SOTU 579 That's Crackers!

It's because you're not in the U.S. anymore! Appears to be blocked here. Why on earth would that song be blocked? The one you inserted just said "video unavailable" for me.

    SOTU 579 That's Crackers!

I was trying to find a "crazy" country song that isn't that one really famous one, and found this. It was apparently recorded by Porter Wagoner, but I couldn't find an original recording of it. All I could find was someone doing a basic cover with his guitar. I wonder what it sounded like...

    SOTU 579 That's Crackers!

I did this one before, a while back, but this is a new recording for this week. It was a "country" hit for Barbara Mandrell in 1980, but it's not really a country song. It has lots of extended chords that give it a jazzier sound. And it's about crackers--the food kind.

    SOTU 579 That's Crackers!

Walter Donaldson was primarily known as a composer who collaborated with different lyricists. But this song was written entirely by him, it's not a collaboration, which makes it a little unusual.

    Season 576 - "Dirty Dancing"

    I haven't either.

SOTU 575 "SEE THE MUSIC, HEAR THE DANCE"

This is a song from 1910 about a dance move called the "glide." I don't know anything about dancing. It mentions a couple of other dance moves in the lyrics, also.

SOTU 574 -- "You Gotta Have Heart"

This one mentions the heart only once, "my heart is doin' loop-the-loop." Recorded in 1941 by Shep Fields New Music. Shep Fields was the leader of the band, but not the singer. If you watch to the end I'll tell you who the original singer was. You've probably heard of him.

SOTU 574 -- "You Gotta Have Heart"

This one uses "heart" a few times in the lyrics.

SOTU 574 -- "You Gotta Have Heart"

This is a heart song you might not recognize at first so you'll have to listen up to at least 27 seconds to get to the part you'll recognize.

SEASON 572 - All Of The Nights We’d Harmonise Til Dawn.

I'm no good at writing "mysterious" songs, either, but I've done a couple that weren't totally literal. So I'm revisiting a song from four years ago. I changed some of the lyrics and made a new recording. Overdubbed a little riff on the baritone, plus u-bass and harmony vocals. If there's...

If the ukulele can be considered a tool, here is a song about using one as a tool for winning someone's love.

Season 567 - Songs From The Back Burner

I came across this song a long time ago, probably from one of the old music podcasts I listen to, but I back-burnered it partly because I never had a really good reason to try it, but mostly because it's hard to sing. I had to figure out where to breathe, and I still missed one spot in this...

Season 567 - Songs From The Back Burner

There was a theme of carousels a few months ago, I think. I tried writing a song for it and came up with something but I didn't think it was all that great. Also, my work schedule has been killing me and I've hardly had time to do any original songs, so I put it on the shelf. But we got home...

    Season 566 - Seasonal Songs

It's hard to find very old songs about Christmas that aren't depressing "tearjerker" songs, but I managed to find one from about 150 years ago. A simple 3-chord song with an easy sing-along chorus that's happy and somewhat humorous. "Hang Up the Baby's Stocking" from 1870.

    Season 566 - Seasonal Songs

This is an arrangement I made from the original sheet music published in 1934, so it might have some extra lyrics you haven't heard before.
